New to Grow
I have been working in private practice for the past seven years, providing a mix of in person therapy in my office in Georgetown and telehealth. I enjoy helping people work on achieving a balance between self acceptance and striving to incorporate positive changes into their lives. I "meet people where they are at" and encourage self exploration with gentle guidance. I often work with adults who identify as 'highly sensitive' or possess introverted qualities. I work with individuals who want to learn how to slow down and enjoy life while also finding a way to thrive in our fast paced, extroverted society. I often work with individuals with anxiety, depression, and interpersonal struggles. I have also helped people work on improving their executive function skills such as time management, organization and goal setting.
I take an individualized approach to therapy based on someone's needs and preferences, however I often incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness techniques into my work. I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate difficult life transitions, feel better about themselves and their relationships. I offer a collaborative, safe and supportive therapeutic environment where individuals can feel heard and receive meaningful feedback.
I am warm and friendly in my approach and use humor when appropriate. Once trust has been established I will challenge someone's way of thinking or negative habits that lead them to feel stuck. I will help them create a vision of how things might look different and walk alongside them as they navigate these changes.
I often work with individuals who present as more sensitive, anxious and prone to "big feelings." I help them navigate the complexities of interpersonal relationships, work and family dynamics as well as the relationship with oneself first and foremost. We focus on strengths in addition to challenges and set intentions related to short term and long term goals. I work well with both men and women who are trying to break patterns of thinking that no longer serve them, facing a crossroads in life or working to have more acceptance of their family systems. Ideally clients are motivated to engage in therapy, open to trusting the process and both learning and growing throughout our work together.
I identify as
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I help people to work towards aligning their behavior with their values and see where the possible disconnect might be.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I help people see the connection between how their thoughts and feelings influence their behavior and work to correct any faulty patterns of thinking. I help them "reframe" how they think about certain situations and gather "data" rather than just jumping to conclusions when they dont have all the information.
Psychodynamic
I help people explore how their past experiences have impacted their present functioning and how to "rewrite their story" and learn to heal from some of their past traumas.
