Hi, I’m Steve, I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, a proud Texas native with 13 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Before starting Reflections Mental Health and Wellness Center, I worked with the inpatient psychiatry team at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where I assisted individuals navigate their mental health challenges. For me, caring for my clients is about more than just treatment—it’s about building a genuine, judgment-free partnership. We’ll work together to create a care plan that truly fits your needs and makes you feel comfortable every step of the way. My goal is to provide personalized support in a safe, welcoming space where you can focus on your well-being with confidence.
In the first session, my goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free space where we can get to know each other. We’ll discuss your concerns, medical and mental health history, and what brings you to care. I’ll ask about your symptoms, daily challenges, and personal goals to better understand your unique needs. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and share any expectations or preferences for your treatment. Together, we’ll start developing a personalized care plan that feels right for you, ensuring you feel heard, supported, and empowered from the very beginning.
As a provider, my greatest strengths lie in my ability to create a compassionate, judgment-free environment where patients feel truly heard and supported. I take a personalized approach to care, ensuring that treatment plans align with each individual’s unique needs and goals. My experience in inpatient psychiatry has given me a deep understanding of mental health challenges, allowing me to provide evidence-based care with empathy and patience. Additionally, my strong communication skills help foster trust and collaboration, empowering patients to take an active role in their well-being.
I work with clients ages 16 through geriatrics. They are primarily work struggling with anxiety and depression—whether it’s persistent worry, overwhelming stress, or feelings of sadness that make daily life challenging. My ideal patients are those looking for support in navigating these emotions and are open to working together to find the right path toward healing. I care for dementia patients because I am committed to offering compassionate support to them and their families through this difficult journey. My focus is on preserving their dignity, enhancing their quality of life, and fostering meaningful connections every step of the way.I also provide care for individuals with ADHD, helping them manage focus, impulsivity, and daily challenges in a way that aligns with their unique strengths. No matter where you are in your journey, my approach is always compassionate, judgment-free, and tailored to your specific needs.
Motivational interviewing has been an essential approach in my practice, enabling me to have meaningful discussions with patients about change. Through open-ended questions, reflective listening, and affirmations, I have helped individuals uncover their own motivations and work through ambivalence toward healthier choices. I have witnessed how this patient-centered method builds trust, boosts self-efficacy, and promotes lasting outcomes. Each encounter reaffirms the value of guiding rather than directing, ensuring that the drive for change stems from the patient’s own internal motivation.
