Hello! My name is Jennifer and I am so happy that you have taken the first step and landed on my page today. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Work Supervisor (LCSW-S) who graduated from University of Texas at Arlington and have over 10 years of experience in the field. I specialize in working with children and adults, particularly in the areas of parenting, behavior management, family conflict, parent-child conflict, stress management, anxiety, etc. I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent individuals as well and am happy to see individuals with a variety of needs & abilities.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. If you are reaching out for help managing challenging behavior with your child, we will discuss details of those behaviors, and you may also be asked to send any applicable school evaluations or psychological testing your child has had in the past for review.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my greatest strengths as a therapist lie in my ability to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel truly heard and understood. I am deeply empathetic, which allows me to connect with clients on a personal level and respond to their unique needs with compassion and sensitivity. My curiosity and openness help me remain adaptable, allowing me to work with clients from diverse backgrounds and to tailor my approach to fit their individual concerns and goals. I am also skilled at helping clients build insight into their patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving, enabling them to make meaningful changes in their lives. Additionally, my strong communication skills foster clarity and trust, ensuring that clients feel supported while also being empowered to take an active role in their healing process. Lastly, I am committed to continual learning and self-reflection, which helps me grow as a therapist and provide the best possible care for those I work with.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My ideal therapy clients are individuals, parents, or families who are open to self-exploration and committed to personal growth, even if they initially feel uncertain about the therapeutic process. They come with a willingness to engage in the work, whether that involves confronting past experiences, learning new coping skills, or developing healthier ways of thinking and behaving. These clients are curious and open-minded, valuing collaboration and trust in the therapeutic relationship. They might be facing a range of challenges, from anxiety and depression to relationship struggles or trauma, but they share a desire to make positive changes in their lives. Ideally, they recognize that change is a gradual process and are patient with themselves as they work through the difficulties they face. Most importantly, they are willing to be vulnerable, allowing for an honest, empathetic, and supportive environment where they can heal and move forward.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I use an array of evidence-based treatment modalities and have extensive experience working with children/adolescents with developmental disabilities and their families.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

Sessions usually involve direct interaction between the child and the parent, guided by the therapist. The therapist observes the dynamics between the two, offering suggestions to the parent on how to respond more effectively to the child's emotional needs and helping the child to better express their emotions. in cases of children with developmental delays, this work may involve the use of manipulatives, such as pictures, to help with communication during sessions.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a widely used and evidence-based therapeutic approach that focuses on helping individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress and mental health issues. A therapist using CBT typically works with clients to recognize how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected and to develop healthier coping strategies.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy helps clients focus on the future, solutions, and strengths rather than lingering on problems. It encourages practical steps, clear goal-setting, and client empowerment. SFBT’s brevity, collaborative nature, and focus on strengths make it a highly effective approach for those seeking quick and sustainable solutions to life challenges.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a specialized form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) designed to help individuals, particularly children and adolescents, who have experienced trauma. It is an evidence-based approach that integrates principles of CBT with trauma-sensitive interventions to address the emotional, psychological, and behavioral impact of traumatic experiences.
