New to Grow
Hi, my name is Sydney Loza and I'm a Licensed Counselor in Fredericksburg, TX. I enjoy facilitating helpful conversations that can serve as a spring-board for the rest of your life. I love seeing people meet goals and feel more confident after years of struggling. I have my own practice and offer talk therapy, EMDR, and Microcurrent Neurofeedback. I practice a range of modalities to meet you where you're at. When I'm not counseling you can find me at the gym, hiking, or hanging out with my husband, Austin, and sweet golden retriever, Daisy!
First session I want to get to know you and make sure you feel like we're a good fit relationally. I also want to understand as much as I can about why you're coming into counseling. I won't jump to interventions or creating a treatment plan until I have a grasp on what's important to you. It can also be more relaxed if that's what you need--I go as fast or slow as you're comfortable with.
I think everyone may need something a little different when coming into counseling. Some need a space to process, and some need more direction. I will assume you are an intelligent person, so I'm not going to rush in to save or solve your problems. At the same time, I want to help you process what feels stuck, and will be an active participant so you don't feel like you're excessively communicating. I can give you ideas/direction for moving forward, and at the end of the day you will figure out what works best for you (in solving problems, maintaining a healthy life, etc).
My ideal client is someone who is willing to take responsibility for their part in therapy. I enjoy talking to all different types of people, and I ask that you're willing to engage and open to change. Counseling can be less helpful if you think one hour a week is going to solve all problems and turn you into a different person. It can be powerful, but also needs to be followed by openness to moving forward or owning your part in the matter. Some individuals don't want to grow because their pain is serving a purpose--which is understandable. As long as you're open to exploring how your life could be different, I'd love to work with you.
I identify as
Neurofeedback
I utilize Microcurrent Neurofeedback to help regulate the nervous system. This means you may sleep better, feel less anxious, be more productive, and less reactive. Sometimes it's difficult to begin engaging in the mental task of talk therapy when your body is taking the physical toll of chronic stress or trauma.
Christian Counseling
I went to seminary and can integrate your faith as much or as little as you'd like.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I'm concerned with your core beliefs and automatic reactions to events. I'd like to help you think about life in a way that leads to more peace and confidence even in difficult times.
EMDR
This is a wonderful and direct way to process events that feel "stuck" without having to verbalize every detail. Those events don't have to cause level 10 distress every day of your life. Eye - Movement - Desensitization - Reprocessing
Narrative
I'm concerned with the story in which you situate yourself in. They way you tell the story of your life can mean the difference between healthy, adaptive functioning and staying stuck in victimhood.
