Ashley Belli
Hello, my name is Ashley Belli. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over a decade of experience in healthcare. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014 and began my career as a medical-surgical nurse, where I developed a strong foundation in patient-centered care. In 2020, I transitioned into a float nursing role, which introduced me to inpatient psychiatric care and sparked my passion for mental health. I went on to earn my Master of Science in Nursing, specializing in psychiatric mental health, in 2023 and began practicing as a psychiatric nurse practitioner shortly thereafter. My approach to psychiatric care is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I believe mental health treatment should be a partnership where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care. My goal is to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where we can work together to address your concerns, develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs, and support your overall mental health and well-being.
I believe exceptional psychiatric care begins with taking the time to listen, understanding the person behind the symptoms, and providing treatment guided by both clinical expertise and compassion.
First session
Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin exploring what has brought you to seek psychiatric care. Whether this is your first experience with mental health treatment or you've received care in the past, my goal is to make the process comfortable, informative, and free of unnecessary pressure. We will begin with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, during which we will discuss your current symptoms, mental health concerns, medical and psychiatric history, medications, and any relevant personal or family history. I also want to understand how these concerns are affecting your everyday life, relationships, work, and overall well-being. This helps me gain a clearer picture of not only what you may be experiencing, but also the factors that could be contributing to your symptoms. From there, we will discuss my clinical impressions, address any questions or concerns, and explore treatment options that may be appropriate for you. This may include medication management, lifestyle recommendations, therapeutic support, or referrals for additional services when indicated. I believe it is important for you to understand the reasoning behind treatment recommendations and feel comfortable participating in decisions about your care. By the end of our appointment, you can expect to have a better understanding of your symptoms, potential treatment options, and what the next steps may look like. There is no expectation that everything needs to be resolved in one visit. Meaningful progress takes time, and our first session is simply where that process begins.
Strengths
One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to genuinely listen to my patients. I believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and respected, especially when discussing something as personal as their mental health. I make it a priority to give my patients the time and attention they deserve, allowing them to openly share their concerns without feeling rushed, dismissed, or judged. I recognize that mental health is complex and that no two individuals have the same experiences or needs. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or medications, I take the time to understand the whole person, including their experiences, challenges, and goals. I value open communication and believe that building a trusting, collaborative relationship is essential to providing effective psychiatric care. My goal is for every patient to leave our sessions feeling supported, understood, and confident in their treatment plan.
Ideal clients
My practice focuses on supporting younger to older adults who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and everyday life stressors that may be impacting their emotional well-being and quality of life. Whether you're having difficulty managing emotions, navigating relationships, balancing responsibilities, or simply not feeling like yourself, I believe everyone deserves care that is tailored to their individual needs. My approach focuses on understanding the whole person rather than just treating a diagnosis. I specialize in psychiatric evaluation and medication management, working collaboratively with patients to identify their concerns, explore treatment options, and establish realistic goals. I recognize that seeking help can be difficult, and I strive to make the process as comfortable and supportive as possible. Ultimately, my goal is to help you achieve greater emotional stability, improve your daily functioning, and feel more confident in managing your mental health and overall well-being.
Treatment methods
Supportive
I incorporate supportive psychotherapy into my psychiatric appointments to help patients navigate emotional challenges, process difficult experiences, and manage everyday stressors. This approach emphasizes emotional support, validation, and strengthening existing coping skills. During our sessions, we may explore current life circumstances, relationship difficulties, work-related stress, or other concerns that may be contributing to psychiatric symptoms. By combining supportive therapeutic interventions with medication management, I aim to address both the emotional and clinical aspects of mental health while helping patients build resilience and improve their ability to manage life's challenges.
Motivational Interviewing
I use motivational interviewing techniques to help patients explore their goals, identify barriers to change, and strengthen their confidence in making decisions that support their mental health. This approach is particularly helpful when individuals feel uncertain about starting medication, making lifestyle adjustments, or changing behaviors that may be affecting their well-being. Rather than directing patients toward a particular decision, I encourage thoughtful discussion about their concerns, motivations, and personal priorities. My goal is to help patients develop greater confidence in their choices and take meaningful steps toward positive, sustainable changes.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I incorporate person-centered principles into my practice by recognizing that each individual brings their own experiences, values, and perspectives to treatment. I encourage patients to openly express their concerns, preferences, and expectations while maintaining an empathetic and nonjudgmental approach. I recognize that what works well for one person may not be appropriate for another, which is why I prioritize shared decision-making and respect for individual treatment preferences. This approach helps guide my psychiatric evaluations, medication recommendations, and therapeutic interventions while allowing patients to remain actively involved in decisions regarding their mental health care.
