I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 14 years of experience supporting teens and adolescents in school settings. I understand the unique challenges young people face today, from academic pressure and friendships to self-esteem, family relationships, and figuring out who they are. My goal is to create a space where teens feel comfortable being themselves and talking openly about what is going on in their lives. Together, we focus on building confidence, managing emotions, improving communication, setting healthy boundaries, and developing practical skills they can use every day. I understand how important school time is, which is why I offer after-school and evening appointments for teens and adolescents. Families often appreciate my warm, down-to-earth, and straightforward approach. I will listen without judgment, but I will also challenge teens to think differently, take ownership of their choices, and develop the confidence to navigate life's challenges with greater clarity and resilience.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is all about getting to know you and understanding what brought you to counseling. We'll talk about what's been going on, what's important to you, and what you'd like to get out of the process. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable while beginning to identify goals and areas where you would like support. By the end of the session, you'll have a better understanding of how I work and what counseling with me may look like moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am known for being warm, down to earth, and direct. I create a space where teens feel comfortable being honest about what is going on in their lives, but I also challenge them to grow. I believe therapy should be more than just talking. Together, we focus on building confidence, managing emotions, making healthy decisions, and developing practical skills that teens can use in their everyday lives. My goal is to help teens better understand themselves, take ownership of their choices, and feel more confident navigating life's challenges.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to support teenagers who are navigating challenges related to self-esteem, identity, relationships, and emotional regulation. Many of the clients I work with are high school students or college students who may feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure of themselves, but are open to growth and support. I work well with teens who are dealing with stress, peer dynamics, family expectations, and life transitions, including the shift into high school or preparing for life after graduation. I also support clients who may struggle with boundaries, decision-making, or balancing responsibilities such as academics, extracurricular activities, and work. My approach is a good fit for teens who are willing to engage in the process, even if they are unsure where to start. I help clients build confidence, develop healthier coping strategies, and gain clarity about who they are and what they want for themselves.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help teens understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns and develop practical strategies to support emotional regulation and everyday decision-making.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I approach counseling from a person-centered lens, creating a supportive and nonjudgmental space where teens feel seen and heard. I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship that allows clients to explore their experiences and grow at their own pace.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help teens focus on their strengths and identify clear, achievable goals. This approach keeps sessions forward-focused and helps clients build confidence through small, meaningful progress.

Narrative

I incorporate Narrative Therapy to help teens explore the stories they tell about themselves and their experiences. Together, we work to reframe limiting narratives and support the development of a more empowered and authentic sense of identity.
