Something feels off, but you can't quite name it. Maybe you're anxious, burnt out, or just going through the motions — doing everything "right" and still feeling disconnected. I work with people who are ready to slow down, get honest with themselves, and figure out who they actually are beneath all the noise. I'm Shauna — a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Yoga Teacher with over a decade of experience in behavioral health. My approach blends evidence-based therapy with mindfulness and somatic practices, because I believe real healing happens in the body as much as the mind. Sessions are virtual, so you can do this work from wherever feels most comfortable. I'm also drawn to the deeper questions — the ones about meaning, identity, and what you're really here to do. If you've ever felt like conventional therapy doesn't quite hold all of you, my holistic approach makes room for that — spiritually curious people feel at home here.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Before we dive in, I'll gather some brief background — then our first real session is a wide-open conversation. I want to understand your whole life, not just the presenting problem. It might feel like we're covering a lot of ground, and that's intentional — I'm building a complete picture of who you are so we can work together in a way that actually fits. You should feel like yourself in this space, and like you actually like who you're talking to.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I see myself as a student of life, always absorbing new information, techniques, and methodologies which to me is my greatest strength. Lately, my focus has been on mindfulness and breathwork practices and their transformative effects on both the mind and body. I like to practice what I preach, incorporating these techniques into my own life to experience their benefits firsthand. I stay engaged through trainings, workshops, and research, continually deepening my understanding. Exploring the connection between breath, nervous system regulation, and emotional well-being has been powerful, and I’m committed to evolving my practice to best support my clients.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

If you feel like you've lost the thread of who you are — like you're running on autopilot, people-pleasing, or just surviving instead of living — you're exactly who I work with. My approach is a good fit for people navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, or a quiet but persistent sense that something needs to change. You don't have to be in crisis to start. You just have to be ready.

My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Most of us spend the majority of our lives in our heads — replaying the past, dreading the future, and missing what's actually happening right now. Mindfulness-based therapy helps you slow down and come back to the present moment, so you can start to notice your patterns instead of just living inside them. Through breathwork, meditation, and grounding practices, we work on regulating your nervous system, building self-compassion, and creating a little space between you and your reactions. This isn't about achieving some zen state — it's about getting out of autopilot and back into your own life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Your brain is working hard — processing somewhere around 60,000 thoughts a day. Not all of them are true, and not all of them are helping you. CBT helps you catch the thought patterns that are keeping you stuck — the self-doubt, the worst-case spiraling, the stories you've been telling yourself for years — and start to rewrite them. We look at how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connect, and we build real, practical tools you can use outside of session. I keep this work grounded and human — it's not about toxic positivity or just "thinking happy thoughts." It's about building a mindset that actually supports the life you want.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This is the foundation of everything I do. I believe you already carry the wisdom and strength to grow and heal — my job is to help you access it. Sessions are collaborative and judgment-free. We move at your pace. There's no agenda to "fix" you, just space to explore, process, and come back to yourself.
