Hi, I’m Leila, and I have been practicing therapy within the home and community for over 15 years. I have a warm, transparent and down to earth communication style. If you're here reading this, you are already taking the first step exploring what type of therapist you want for yourself. My specialty is working with people who are in spaces where they feel stuck in a pattern that is no longer serving them, including those related to their mental health and/or substance use. With me, you should expect that together we will focus on building awareness, resources, resiliency and acquiring practical coping skills that will prepare you to do the work on your own when ready. In all my years of research and clinical experience, I have learned that a strong relationship with your therapist will result in higher rates of successfully getting your goals met. In our first session, you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts and questions to determine if working together is a good fit.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

1. Time to get to know each other 2. A brief review of intake forms and assessments 3. Additional questions, assessments and/or safety planning (if needed)

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My therapeutic approach is client-driven, strengths-focused and practical. I only utilize evidence-based practices which are more effective, consistent, and safer practices, that also have a higher likelihood of improving client outcomes.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My therapeutic style connects well with people who are direct, action oriented and looking to nurture their well being.

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma-informed Care is what I see as the foundation to building a strong therapeutic relationship together. Providing trauma-informed care to me means that you are in the driver's seat when it comes to making decisions about your treatment. When we begin working together our first priority will be to explore how we can begin to establish security and comfort within our sessions.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is my philosophical approach to supporting clients in exploring if, and how they may want to make changes in their lives. As the client, you know what you need or want to change. My role as the therapist will be providing a space that fosters awareness and confidence in your own ability to make those changes.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I offer Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for clients who want to build insight into and to challenge unhelpful thinking patterns. I utilize this approach because there is strong evidence that through recognizing our patterns, we are empowered to modify our responses and the thinking patterns that are no longer serving us. If you are interested in CBT, we would learn what patterns and responses are no longer serving you, and determine how to modify these patterns and responses.

EMDR

I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as an option for clients because it is grounded in the premise that the mind has a remarkable capacity for healing. This approach involves the reprocessing of traumatic or distressing memories, and it can reduce the emotional impact of these memories. If as a client you are interested in EMDR, our first step would be identifying if and how your goals could be met using this approach.
