Hey there! I'm Angela and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor based in New Jersey and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor based out of Maine. I graduated from Rutgers University with a Master’s of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling in Clinical Mental Health. I attained my Approved Clinical Supervisor and Certified Clinical Supervisor in 2023. I work with individuals 13 years old and up. I've always worked on building a working and therapeutic alliance with my clients. Rapport building is really valuable to me!
In our first session, you can expect lots of questions from me! I like to get to know you and collaborate with you on what direction to go in your therapy. The first session can be tough and you're meeting me for the first time. You can know that I will respect whatever direction you feel is best to go in for our sessions.
I’ve worked in many different areas of the field from partial care and hospitalization, homeless services for veterans and the private practice setting. I loved all of these experiences as it taught me a lot about people! From anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, relationship and interpersonal issues, trauma; it made me realize how much we can all relate to one another; the common humanity in it all. These are all shared experiences and I want to help people see that and overcome whatever barriers they face.
I use CBT to help individuals challenge thoughts and explore what emotions can do for them. It helps individuals see what core beliefs may be creating barriers for them and offers options on how to approach each belief.
I use this in my couples sessions to help individuals decrease conflict in their relationships and identify what their needs/wants are from one another.
I use DBT with individuals who struggle with significant mood shifts and need assistance in developing coping skills to manage difficult emotions and engage in healthier relationships.
Sand Play therapy is an experiential type of therapy that allows us to tap into our unconscious mind. I supply a tray of sand and miniatures for this therapy.
