Hi, I’m Magaly E. Diaz, LMHC, a bilingual therapist and founder of Mayah Emotional Integration LLC. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults who struggle with emotional regulation, attention, and behavioral challenges. With a warm, integrative approach, I help clients build insight, resilience, and practical skills to thrive in daily life—at home, school, or work. Therapy with me is compassionate, engaging, and rooted in strategies that truly make a difference.
In our first session, my goal is to create a welcoming and comfortable space where you—or your child—can feel heard and understood. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, explore current challenges, and begin identifying your goals. For children and adolescents, I also involve caregivers to gain a full picture of the child’s emotional, behavioral, and family dynamics. You can expect a warm, structured conversation where we begin building trust and laying the foundation for meaningful progress.
My greatest strengths lie in my ability to combine clinical expertise with genuine empathy, cultural sensitivity, and creativity to meet each client where they are. I specialize in helping children and adolescents manage challenges related to emotional regulation, attention, impulsivity, anxiety, and behavioral outbursts. I use an integrative, evidence-based approach that includes play therapy, cognitive-behavioral interventions, and neuro-emotional strategies to promote emotional awareness, flexibility, and self-control. I also provide a strong foundation of parent collaboration, recognizing that families are an essential part of the healing process. What sets my therapeutic approach apart is my capacity to form meaningful, trusting connections with young clients, even those who are initially resistant or struggle to express themselves. I translate complex emotional and behavioral challenges into manageable goals, using engaging, age-appropriate strategies to foster internal motivation and lasting change. Sessions are dynamic, supportive, and developmentally tailored to build on each child’s strengths and needs. My clients and their families often tell me they feel seen, supported, and understood in ways they hadn’t experienced before. Whether we’re working to reduce tantrums, increase focus, or improve family relationships, I bring warmth, structure, and a deep commitment to helping clients make real progress—and feel proud of it.
My ideal clients are children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating emotional overwhelm, attention difficulties, behavioral challenges, or major life transitions. I’m especially attuned to working with individuals who may feel stuck, misunderstood, or discouraged—and who are ready (or just beginning) to build healthier coping skills, emotional awareness, and stronger self-regulation. Whether the goal is to improve focus, manage anxiety, reduce outbursts, or foster confidence, I offer a supportive, culturally sensitive space to grow and thrive.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT-B (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy – Brief) is a structured, time-limited, and goal-oriented form of therapy that focuses on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns and maladaptive behaviors. The approach helps the client develop practical coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and engage in healthier responses to stressors. Sessions typically emphasize present-focused strategies and measurable outcomes to promote meaningful, functional change in a shorter timeframe.
Play Therapy
Play Therapy is a developmentally appropriate therapeutic approach that uses play as a medium for children to express thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Through structured and unstructured play activities, the therapist helps the child process emotions, develop problem-solving skills, and improve communication and behavior. Play Therapy provides a safe, supportive environment where the child can explore inner conflicts and build emotional resilience in a way that aligns with their cognitive and emotional level.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness is a therapeutic technique that involves cultivating present-moment awareness with a nonjudgmental and accepting attitude. It helps individuals observe their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations without becoming overwhelmed by them. Mindfulness practices are used to reduce stress, enhance emotional regulation, and increase cognitive flexibility. Techniques may include breathing exercises, guided imagery, body scans, and mindful movement.
