Welcome to Growtherapy !! My name is Yvonne Ricketts. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with the State Board of Florida. I have been providing face to face and virtual psychotherapy to children and adults for over 16 years. I earned a Masters of Science degree in counseling psychology (MS)at Palm Beach Atlantic University. I have also been employed in various community agencies and have additional on the job training and experiences in various modalities. My caring, empathic, and non -judgmental ability has allowed me to serve effectively across cultures and diversities. Ensuring that I treat all my clients as unique individuals, in a collaborative effort while they navigate their therapeutic journey. in an understanding and caring atmosphere.
I am glad that you made the life changing move to take care of your health and wellness. My first session will entails proper introduction, rapport building, appropriate ice breaker to put you at ease. I will give you my full attention by listening to your presenting problem. I will inform you on the terms and condition of the session. I will give you time to ask all the questions that you need to make the therapeutic process as seamless as possible. Welcome aboard!
Growing up I was always bringing home all the stray or hurting animals. It moves from animals to people. I would share everything I have ,as I always want to see people happy. My mother would say, when you grow up I know you would be a caring person. People would always come to me for advice even as a teenager. My passion led me to pursue a career as a counselor. Over the years and as the world turns and more people are experiencing severe mental issues I constantly keep up with current events and changes in all faucet of life so i can better serve my clients with cutting edge information and treatment.
I have experience in serving clients who are affected with these life changing experiences such as: grief, parenting, couples therapy and Christian counseling . I utilizing these modalities: Trauma Outcome Process, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Parenting Skills education (Triple P Level 4 Standard Triple P, and level 5 Pathways Triple P certification). helping parents to parent well. Prepare/ Enrich certification for (Couples that are preparing for marriage and enrich those who are already married) ensuring that they get the best care.
I found that CBT is like one size fit all in dealing with emotional challenges. CBT deals specifically with how information is processed. It is a widely evidenced based psychotherapy that aims to improve mental health by changing negative thoughts feelings and behaviors. I understand that individuals thoughts influence their behaviors. I have utilized CBT as a teaching tool where clients learn in a safe therapeutic atmosphere to process their challenges. I have observed that after a short time working with my clients I have seen great improvement.
As the world turns and the divorce rates escalates my passion is to see couples live successful lives. I will utilize the Prepare enrich method for couples who are planning to get married , and are married and need enhancement. Prepare Enrich a highly researched assessment tool used for pre engagement pre marital, marriage and couples counseling. I have had success in clients whose marriage almost reached divorce court and was able to be restored. As a certified provider I also utilized CBT in colloboration when there is a challenging situation.
The term Christian counseling refer to counseling which has a biblical aspect to it. As a mental Health Counselor and a Bible believing Christian. I have had the experience of utilizing the scripture and psychotherapy to clients who are coming from a biblical worldview and need that type of counseling, without imposing on other clients who are not of that worldview. I have seen a lot of lives changed for the better.
