PMHNP, 10 years of experience
Hello, I’m Ogechi Lebeanya, DNP, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner committed to helping individuals age 6 and older manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia through compassionate, evidence-based care. I specialize in psychiatric evaluations and medication management tailored to your specific needs. My approach is warm, collaborative, and focused on helping you feel better — not just medicated. I take time to understand your history, symptoms, and goals so we can create a treatment plan that works for your lifestyle. Whether you’re seeking support for focus, mood, trauma recovery, or emotional regulation, I’m here to partner with you every step of the way. I currently provide telehealth care across Texas, South Carolina, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, and New Mexico.
In our first session, you can expect a warm, respectful, and nonjudgmental space where you’re encouraged to share your concerns openly. We’ll begin with introductions and a brief discussion about confidentiality and what you can expect from our work together. I’ll complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to better understand your medical history, current symptoms, and any personal or environmental factors affecting your mental health. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss your goals, and explore potential treatment options. The goal of this first session is to establish a collaborative relationship and begin developing a personalized care plan that supports your emotional well-being and long-term stability.
One of my greatest strengths as a psychiatric nurse practitioner is my deep empathy and ability to connect with clients in a respectful, nonjudgmental way. I prioritize understanding each person’s unique background, experiences, and goals, which allows me to create personalized, effective treatment plans. I am deeply committed to evidence-based practice and stay current with the latest research to ensure the highest quality of care. My strong communication skills help clients and families feel informed, supported, and empowered to take an active role in their mental health journey. I strive to make each client feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.
I primarily work with individuals ages 6 and up who are experiencing conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, PTSD, and other chronic mental health concerns. My ideal client is someone seeking compassionate, long-term support through medication management and evidence-based psychiatric care. Whether you’re navigating new symptoms, exploring medication options, or managing a long-standing diagnosis, I offer personalized treatment plans that focus on both emotional stability and long-term wellness. I provide all services via secure telehealth, making it convenient and accessible for clients across Texas, South Carolina, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, and New Mexico to receive high-quality psychiatric care from the comfort of their own space.
I use a supportive treatment approach to create a safe, empathetic space where clients feel heard, validated, and encouraged throughout their healing journey. While my primary role as a PMHNP focuses on medication management, supportive techniques allow me to build strong therapeutic relationships, help clients manage emotional distress, and promote resilience. In sessions, I incorporate active listening, encouragement, psychoeducation, and collaborative problem-solving. This approach helps clients feel comfortable discussing their concerns openly and supports the development of trust, which is essential when making decisions about medication and overall mental health care. Supportive treatment also enables me to recognize when clients may benefit from additional therapy or referrals, ensuring a holistic and well-coordinated care plan.
I incorporate psychoeducation into every stage of care to help clients better understand their mental health conditions, treatment options, and the role of medication in their recovery. My goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions and feel more confident in managing their symptoms. During sessions, I provide clear, evidence-based explanations of diagnoses, how different medications work, potential side effects, and what to expect during treatment. I also discuss lifestyle factors, coping strategies, and when appropriate, educate family members to support continuity of care. Psychoeducation builds trust, reduces stigma, and encourages active participation in the treatment process, which is essential for long-term success.
I approach treatment through a trauma-informed lens, recognizing that many clients have experienced events that impact how they think, feel, and respond to care. My goal is to provide a safe, respectful environment where clients feel empowered—not retraumatized—during the healing process. This approach informs how I conduct assessments, discuss treatment options, and build rapport. I focus on transparency, collaboration, and emotional safety, and I remain sensitive to how trauma may influence medication adherence, emotional regulation, and daily functioning. When appropriate, I also help coordinate referrals for trauma-focused therapy to ensure comprehensive, integrated care.
While I do not provide formal psychotherapy, I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles into medication management sessions to help clients recognize how their thoughts, behaviors, and emotions are interconnected. I may offer practical CBT-based tools such as identifying negative thought patterns, challenging unhelpful beliefs, or tracking mood and behavior changes alongside medication adjustments. These tools help clients develop better insight and coping strategies, which can enhance the effectiveness of psychiatric treatment and support overall recovery.
