New to Grow
Something brought you here. Maybe it is a specific problem that needs solving, or maybe it is a general sense that things could be better. Either way, reaching out takes courage, and you deserve to work with someone who takes that decision seriously. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief and various types of life transitions. My work is grounded in deep compassion, hope and the belief that every person has inherent worth. My approach is warm, direct, practical and tailored to what you need. For clients who desire it, I integrate Christian principles and faith-based perspectives into our sessions, offering a space where your spiritual journey can be interwoven into your healing and growth. I draw from psychodynamic and mindfulness-based approaches as well as from cognitive behavioral therapy. But honestly, the research is clear: the most important factor in therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. And that is what I seek to prioritize in my work with people. I believe in this work because I have seen what happens when people get the right support. It changes everything. Outside the office I am an outdoor enthusiast, a Bible nerd and a firm believer that rest is productive. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience, supporting people through various stages of life. I have worked in a variety of contexts over the course of my career including community mental health, corrections, private practice and the Veterans Administration. Let's meet for a free 15 minute consultation to see if we might be a good team to address your concerns.
While our initial session will include a brief review of Grow Therapy policies and the limits of confidentiality, it will primarily be an introductory conversation about you and your story. We'll take a look at what specific challenges, symptoms, or life events that led you to seek support. I'll ask about things like your current living situation, important relationships, your stress level, what kind of work you do, and any past mental health history in order to better understand the context of the things you are currently facing. You are in charge of how much or little you want to share. We will discuss what you hope to achieve in therapy and how you will know you are progressing toward your goals. The most important part of the initial session is to evaluate whether or not you feel like we are a good fit. An effective therapeutic relationship is built on feeling safe, respected and heard as well as having a sense of connection. It is perfectly acceptable if you need time after the session to decide whether or not you want to go forward.
I have a genuine interest in the lives of my clients, as everyone's story is rich and unique. I enjoy supporting clients with finding strengths they may have lost touch with and then harnessing that energy to help them move toward their therapy goals.
I enjoy working with adult clients who are interested in taking a wholistic approach to their mental health, recognizing that physical, relational, and spiritual aspects of experience all play a vital role in our well-being. What we are feeding our bodies, minds and souls matters and has a direct impact on our experiences of flourishing and living a meaningful life.
