I have over 6 years’ experience providing counseling for those with cooccurring mental health and addiction problems. I hold two master’s degrees, one in Addiction Counseling and one in Criminal Justice Administration, and a bachelor’s degree in legal studies. I have also worked as a counselor for several Georgia accountability courts, drug courts, mental health court, and Veterans Court. I am a Certified Advance Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor through the ADACBGA. I am certified to provide several group therapies, such as Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), Seeking Safety, Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM) for both men and women, and SMART Recovery, as well as extensive My approach is supportive, empathetic, and, above all, pragmatic. While understanding the past is essential, change can only occur in the present. I will challenge you to be an active partner in therapy and to work toward ongoing insight, growth, and positive change both in and outside of sessions. As a co-occurring disorder therapist, I have heard so many times, You cannot understand it if you have never lived it, I have lived it in both my personal and professional life. This means I can be more than compassionate; I can be empathetic because I have worked through and lived so many of the experiences my clients struggle with.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be a real conversation. I want to understand your situation, your goals, and what's brought you to this point. You don't need to have it figured out. You just need to show up. I want you to feel comfortable, understood, and supported. I want to give you the tools to not only survive in life but to thrive. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivation Enhancement Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy in my practice. In your first session, we'll explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress. With CBT, we'll look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During treatment, I'll help you learn how to push back against those thoughts to change your feelings for the better."

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

If you've been caught up in the criminal justice system, dealing with substance use, or mental health, and are working to build something different, I want you to know I get it. Not just from training. I have my own extensive life experience in addiction and the criminal justice system. As a cooccurring disorder therapist, I provide therapy online and prefer to work "off" hours, evenings and weekends, to better accommodate you.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve those with cooccurring mental health and substance use/addiction problems. Additionally, anyone with any behavioral or process addictions, such as shopping, sex, gambling, internet, porn, and technology. I also have extensive experience helping those involved in the criminal justice system or have legal problems. I also have experience dealing with both men's and women's trauma.

My treatment methods

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) is a structured, client-centered counseling approach designed to help people resolve mixed feelings (ambivalence) about making healthy behavioral changes and commit to recovery. It is most frequently used to treat substance use disorders, eating disorders, and other self-destructive behaviors.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented form of talk therapy. It operates on the principle that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. By identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns, you can change your behaviors and improve how you feel.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a highly structured type of talk therapy designed to help people who experience emotions intensely. Its core philosophy blends two seemingly opposite concepts: accepting your current reality and actively working to change unhelpful behaviors. While initially created to treat Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and severe suicidality, DBT is now widely used to treat Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Substance use and addiction, eating disorders (such as binge-eating and bulimia), and PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) The 4 Core Skills. DBT equips individuals with practical life tools grouped into four main modules, Mindfulness: The practice of being fully present in the current moment without judgment. Distress Tolerance: Learning how to survive and navigate crises without making the situation worse. Emotion Regulation: Understanding, managing, and modifying intense emotions. Interpersonal Effectiveness: Learning how to communicate assertively, maintain self-respect, and set healthy boundaries.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)—is a future-focused, goal-oriented approach. Rather than dwelling on the past or analyzing the root cause of problems, it helps you identify your existing strengths and build actionable strategies to reach your desired future. SFBT operates on the philosophy that you already possess the resources and skills needed to improve your life, and the therapist's role is to help you unlock them. The process is highly collaborative and typically short-term.
