My name is Eric Hinojosa, LPC, MA, and I earned my master’s degree from Texas Wesleyan University. I provide a thoughtful and compassionate approach to therapy grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, which focuses on helping clients understand how past experiences, relationships, and emotional patterns may continue to influence their present lives. Together, we work to build greater self-awareness, emotional insight, and healthier ways of coping and relating to others. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Clinical Psychology and am passionate about creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered in their personal growth. My goal is to help individuals move toward greater clarity, healing, and emotional well-being at a pace that feels safe and meaningful to them.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the first session, my goal is to create a comfortable and welcoming space where you can begin sharing your story at your own pace. We will discuss what brings you to therapy, the challenges you are currently facing, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. I will also ask questions about your personal history, relationships, emotional experiences, and overall well-being so I can better understand you as a whole person rather than just focusing on symptoms alone. The first session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share any concerns, and get a sense of how I work as a therapist. My approach is collaborative, reflective, and nonjudgmental, and I strive to help clients feel emotionally safe and understood. Together, we will begin identifying goals for therapy and explore a path forward that feels supportive and meaningful to you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to help clients look beyond surface-level problems and better understand the deeper emotional patterns influencing their lives. I take a thoughtful, insight-oriented approach that helps clients connect past experiences with present struggles in ways that feel meaningful and empowering. Clients often describe feeling genuinely heard, understood, and emotionally safe in our work together.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are individuals who are seeking deeper self-understanding and meaningful personal growth, not just short-term symptom relief. I work well with clients who may feel stuck in recurring emotional patterns, relationship difficulties, anxiety, trauma, grief, or challenges with identity and self-worth. Many of the people I work with are reflective, curious about themselves, and motivated to better understand how past experiences influence their present emotions, behaviors, and relationships. I am particularly well-positioned to support clients navigating trauma, attachment wounds, relationship conflict, emotional regulation difficulties, grief and loss, domestic violence recovery, and major life transitions. I also work with individuals who feel disconnected from themselves, struggle with unhealthy relational dynamics, or want to improve communication and emotional awareness. My therapeutic approach is thoughtful, collaborative, and insight-oriented. I strive to create a space where clients feel emotionally safe, understood, and able to explore difficult experiences without judgment. Clients who are open to reflection, emotional exploration, and long-term personal growth often benefit most from the work we do together.

My treatment methods

Psychoanalytic

I have experience using psychoanalytic therapy to help individuals better understand the deeper emotional patterns that influence their thoughts, relationships, and behaviors. In my practice, I work collaboratively with clients to explore how past experiences, unresolved emotions, and unconscious patterns may continue to affect their present lives. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, psychoanalysis helps uncover the underlying meaning behind emotional struggles, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma, and repeated life patterns. My approach is conversational, reflective, and tailored to each person’s unique experiences. I help clients increase self-awareness, recognize recurring emotional themes, and develop a stronger understanding of themselves and their relationships. Through this process, clients often experience greater emotional clarity, improved relationships, healthier coping patterns, and a deeper sense of personal growth and authenticity.

Attachment-based

I have experience using attachment-based therapy to help individuals understand how early relationships and emotional experiences shape the way they connect with others, regulate emotions, and view themselves. In my practice, I help clients explore patterns related to trust, intimacy, abandonment, conflict, and emotional safety in relationships. Many clients begin to recognize how past attachment experiences may influence current struggles with anxiety, relationships, self-esteem, or emotional regulation. My approach focuses on creating a safe, supportive therapeutic relationship where clients can process emotions openly and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. I work collaboratively with clients to build emotional awareness, strengthen communication, improve boundaries, and foster more secure and stable relationships. Through this process, clients often experience increased self-understanding, greater emotional resilience, and healthier interpersonal connections.
