Hi, I’m Candace—a licensed therapist, proud Detroit native, and a woman who understands the beauty and complexity of healing while holding it all together. I help folks unpack the weight they were never meant to carry, all while making room for joy, softness, and self-trust. Therapy with me is real, warm, and rooted in respect, I’ll meet you where you are, but I won’t let you stay stuck. I believe in breaking cycles, not spirits. If you’re ready to heal, I’m here to walk with you, not in front of you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other in a way that feels easy and natural, not rushed or clinical. I’ll ask questions about what brings you to therapy, your story, and what you hope to get out of our time together. You’re welcome to share at your own pace, there’s no pressure to “have it all figured out.” My goal is to create a space that feels safe, affirming, and real, where you can exhale and just be you. We'll start building a foundation for the work ahead, one honest conversation at a time.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths lie in my ability to hold space with both softness and structure, I’ll sit with your pain without rushing your process, but I’ll also gently challenge you to grow. I bring lived experience, clinical expertise, and deep cultural awareness to every session, especially for folks navigating grief, identity, trauma, and burnout. I’m skilled at helping clients connect the dots between past wounds and present patterns, and I do it in a way that feels empowering, not overwhelming. Clients often say they feel seen, safe, and supported in ways they’ve never experienced before. What makes me unique is that I bring both heart and strategy, I honor your story while helping you rewrite it.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are strong people who are tired of being strong all the time, folks who are ready to heal, not just survive. They’re deep feelers, cycle breakers, and nurturers who’ve often put themselves last and are finally choosing to come home to themselves. I work best with clients who want more than just coping, they want clarity, connection, and lasting change. They’re open, even if a little guarded, and willing to do the work with a therapist who gets it. If you’re ready to unpack the layers, honor your truth, and build a life that feels like yours, you’re my kind of client.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I’m trained in EMDR and use it to help clients process trauma in a safe, structured way. We begin with resourcing to build internal stability before moving into deeper work. I tailor each session to the client’s pace and comfort level, using tools like the TheraTapper for bilateral stimulation. EMDR has been a powerful method for helping clients find relief, clarity, and lasting healing.

Attachment-based

I use an attachment-based approach to help clients feel safe, seen, and supported in our work together. Building trust is at the heart of the healing process, especially for those with early relational wounds. I focus on creating a secure therapeutic relationship that allows clients to explore patterns, express emotions, and develop healthier connections. This method has been deeply effective in fostering self-compassion, emotional regulation, and meaningful change.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Culturally sensitive therapy is at the core of how I practice. I honor each client’s unique background, values, and lived experiences without judgment. I strive to create a safe space where clients feel respected, affirmed, and understood. This approach helps build trust and allows for deeper, more authentic healing.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients connect with the different parts of themselves in a compassionate and nonjudgmental way. Together, we explore how these parts have developed to protect and support them, even when they feel stuck or overwhelmed. I create a gentle space where clients can get to know their inner world and begin healing from within. This approach often leads to deeper self-understanding, clarity, and emotional relief.
