LCSW, 12 years of experience
Hi and thanks for stopping by! My name is Diana and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I've been a social worker/therapist for over a decade and feel lucky and proud to be able to do what I get to do, which is to help and support people. I enjoy working with individuals of all ages, but my work has primarily been with the adult population. My treatment has focused on trauma, anxiety, depression and mood management.
Here is what you can expect in our first session together: we'll start with brief introductions and dive into what brings you to seeking therapy. I hope to jump into working towards helping you get going on your goals of what you hope to gain from our time together. If you are someone who takes time to warm-up, that's understandable and we can move at your pace, just let me know. My focus is to help us create a plan that will help you on our journey together. Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting with you.
As a provider with over a decade of experience, what I value the most when working with my clients is that they feel respected and understood. My goal is to provide support to you and sometimes the support you will receive from me may not look and feel like support. Let me clarify, I will always be honest with each person I work with, because I do not gain anything from not being honest and open with the individuals I work with. I believe that you can be honest and kind. And you can be firm and gentle. This is what you can expect from me.
I am someone who is curious by nature and hope that you will try and be curious about your life too. We don't always need to know the 'why' of how things come to be (even though we sometimes want to know why). I think something to consider asking yourself is the 'what' (What do you want to do about this situation?) If you are someone who is uncertain, curious or you know what you want to work on, we will work together to help you get there! I try to remind clients that even though I am the professional, you are the expert. And together we are a team!
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a treatment method that I use with most if not almost all of my clients in my approach, why? Because it is one of the most helpful approaches to creating awareness for yourself. Most importantly, it's about taking a look at your thoughts and asking you to step outside of yourself and say, Hmm? What do I think about that thought? Is it true? Maybe...or yes! Probably not, but it FEELS like it's true. Let's take a look and find out together.
I think of attachment based approach can be helpful in understanding each person as a whole. Your past does not define you. And yet it seems to help us understand sometimes, why we do what we do. I would also say that understanding is an essential part of the growth process. Perhaps this is what each person is looking for, is to offer ourselves some understanding and validation.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) came from CBT and is one of THE most helpful treatment approaches that I believe can help all of us. One of the biggest tools about being able to learn and apply DBT is that it provides ways on how to tolerate and regulate uncomfortable emotions. When we have big emotions (because we are human beings) sometimes we don't know what to do with it and that's when we can turn to all kinds of unhelpful and unhealthy things that we know may not be good for us. DBT is a great way to learn how to help ourselves not become hijacked by our feelings.

Diana has provided me with so many helpful techniques and consistent support throughout our time together. She always remembered the details I shared and truly paid attention each week, which helped build a strong rapport between us. Her dedication made a big difference in my mental health journey. Thank you, Diana!
