Feeling anxious, empty, trapped, or stuck in a pattern that feels impossible to break? Often, our current struggles signify deeper wounds that, when nurtured, can bring profound healing and empowerment. I believe every individual has inherent purpose and value and my goal is to help you align with yours—whether through clarifying values, making behavioral changes, or shifting thought patterns. My approach is strengths-based and nonjudgmental. I understand that healing is a deeply personal journey, and I work collaboratively with you to ensure that you feel understood and supported. I utilize an eclectic method, drawing from a range of techniques and theoretical orientations, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Together, we will create personalized treatment goals and interventions that meet your specific needs and goals.
In our first session, we'll start with introductions, including any questions you might have for me, and focus on the specific challenges you're facing. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, so I’ll use this time to understand your unique needs and create a personalized treatment plan that we will work through in our follow-up sessions.
My own recovery from an eating disorder has given me a unique perspective and empathy. I understand how difficult the journey can be, but I also know that it is absolutely worth it, and I’m here to support you through every step of the process. If you’re ready to begin, I invite you to reach out. I’m here to support you every step of the way, and I believe the strength you demonstrate in seeking help will be a key part of your transformative journey.
I love working with clients that are motivated to change but feel unsure about where to begin or how to make lasting progress. They may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or frustrated, but are eager to find healthier ways to cope and improve their lives.
In my practice, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients accept their thoughts and emotions rather than avoiding them. I guide them through processes like cognitive defusion, mindfulness, and clarifying their values, so they can act in ways that align with what truly matters to them. By focusing on values and taking committed action, even in the face of discomfort, I help clients build a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs that contribute to their emotional distress. I work with them to replace negative thinking patterns with more realistic and balanced ones. Through practical techniques, like cognitive restructuring and behavioral activation, I help clients develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving, which leads to improved emotional well-being and better coping strategies in everyday life.
Skills, skills, skills. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is all about skills to help clients manage intense emotions and improve their relationships. I teach skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. By combining acceptance and change strategies, I help clients find balance, reduce harmful behaviors, manage impulses, and maintain healthy communication in relationships.
Depending on client-needs, I may use a technique called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) o help clients process and heal from traumatic memories. Through a structured process involving bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements), I help clients reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional charge and helping them integrate those memories in a healthier way. This allows clients to move past trauma, reduce symptoms, and feel more neutral about past traumas.
Sometimes we experience thoughts and feelings, or engage in behaviors, we just don't understand. Throughout our work together, I might provide psychoeducation to help clients understand the psychological and emotional factors that influence their behavior and well-being. I provide information about mental health, coping strategies, and how thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. By increasing their knowledge, I empower clients to make informed decisions, improve their mental health, and build healthier habits in their everyday lives.
