Hello, I’m Jennifer Hernandez, DSW Candidate, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker serving individuals, couples, families, and adolescents throughout New York and Connecticut. My passion is helping people heal from life’s most difficult experiences and build healthier, more fulfilling lives. I specialize in trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and complex emotional concerns. Throughout my career, I have worked in community mental health, crisis intervention, forensic settings, and private practice, supporting clients from diverse backgrounds and walks of life.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. My goal is to create a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free space where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns, experiences, and goals. During our initial appointment, we will discuss what brought you to therapy, any current challenges you are facing, and relevant aspects of your personal, family, medical, and mental health history. I will also ask questions to better understand your strengths, support systems, and what you hope to achieve through therapy.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring a compassionate, authentic, and nonjudgmental approach to every session. I believe that meaningful change happens when clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to explore their experiences openly. My goal is to create a therapeutic environment where you feel heard, respected, and supported throughout your healing journey. With experience across crisis intervention, community mental health, forensic settings, and private practice, I am skilled at working with a wide range of concerns, including trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and complex mental health needs. I balance empathy with practical strategies, helping clients gain insight while developing tools they can apply in everyday life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Many of my clients are seeking a safe, culturally responsive space to heal, build resilience, improve relationships, and develop healthier coping strategies. I work well with individuals who may feel stuck, disconnected, burdened by past experiences, or uncertain about how to move forward. Together, we focus on increasing self-awareness, strengthening emotional regulation, improving communication, processing difficult experiences, and creating meaningful, sustainable change. As a bilingual clinician, I am particularly passionate about supporting diverse and underserved communities, including first-generation families and individuals facing systemic, cultural, or socioeconomic barriers to care. My goal is to help clients move from surviving to thriving while fostering healing, empowerment, and long-term emotional well-being.
