My name is Nicole Nonclerc, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Master's Level Certified Addictions Professional (MCAP), and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) in Florida with 10+ years' experience in mental health and addiction treatment. I have worked with clients of all ages, from early childhood through elderly adults, and am comfortable treating a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and personality disorders. I have also helped clients who need assistance navigating difficult systems of care such as drug court, DCF agencies, and foster care. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Florida State University, and my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University. I recently completed my PhD in Criminal Justice at Nova Southeastern University, as well. My counseling style tends to be solution-focused and interactive. I believe that, although a therapist does bring skills and techniques to the sessions, clients are still the experts of their own lives and solutions should fit within the client’s unique lifestyle, values, and views. My approach combines multiple therapeutic techniques, including cognitive-behavioral, motivational enhancement, and humanistic approaches in order to create a unique plan of action for each client. I recognize that making the decision to pursue counseling as a method of making positive changes in your life is daunting, but if you are ready to improve your life, even if you’re not sure where to begin, then I am happy to support and encourage you along this journey! Please note, due to conflicts of interest, I will not treat anyone who is living in, has a civil or legal case in, or is associated in any way with Hillsborough County, Florida.
Our first session will be focused on me learning what your goals for therapy are, or helping you to define them based on your concerns and needs. We will discuss treatment options, preferences, and expectations as well. Our first session will be a collaborative effort, focused on setting up a game plan to make sure that therapy is effective and beneficial for you..
I have worked with a variety of clients, from all sorts of different lifestyles and backgrounds, and in a variety of settings. I am well-versed in helping clients develop individualized treatment plans based on their specific needs and goals, in a non-judgemental setting.
I enjoy working with teens and adults who are dealing with a variety of life issues, including family trouble, phase of life issues, divorce, etc. Additionally, I enjoy working with a variety of diagnoses, including anxiety, PTSD, depression, ADHD or OCD. I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to connect with a therapist and improve their lives. This can include a desire to better one's self or situation, even if the specifics of preferences or desires related to therapy are not yet clear.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize CBT practices (and Trauma-Focused CBT practices) as part of a targeted solution-focused CBT treatment plan, or as part of a larger ecclectic blend of practices. I enjoy utilizing skills from CBT like thought challenging and cognitive reframing.
EMDR
While I do not use EMDR specifically, I use a similar evidence-based practice called Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). This is an eye-movement based practice (similar to EMDR) that can target a variety of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, substance use issues, and depression.
Narrative
Narrative therapy is great for individuals who want to start to rewrite their own story and put a positive spin on situations that may be difficult to process. This method is great for people who want to build self-esteem and learn skills to help cope with future issues, as well as past and present ones.
