Are you struggling to feel like you are enough? Do memories from your past or worries stop you from living your best life? I empower you to take control of your anxiety, embrace your worth and equip you with coping skills to heal from trauma, manage stress, overcome anxiety, and conquer depression. I treat teens, young adults, parents, trauma survivors, and those struggling to find their own self worth and healing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first meeting is a getting to know you meeting. I want to know you as a whole person, not just a set of issues. I am friendly and warm and most people say it feels good just to hear someone get what they are going through or make them feel normal after having to hide a lot of what they think and feel. In this intake we will make goals together and set some steps to take to achieve your goals of feeling like you again. My goal in this session is to get us connected, start building trust, and have my a-ha moment where I know some of the things driving your symptoms so we can make a plan of action. I am a systems therapist so I spend a lot of time understanding your family, your job, and your social network. You should leave feeling like someone has your back and has a plan and knowing I am excited to be a part of your journey

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My unique assessment skills set me apart as a therapist. I have a deep understanding of how various challenges can affect you. Whether it's co-occurring disorders, the impact of trauma, or the ups and downs of life, I'm here to help you through it all. I see you as a complete person, even when you might feel broken apart, and I'm committed to helping you discover your hidden strengths and inner power. I genuinely connect with people, making them feel valued and empowered to drive change in their lives. I'm experienced in working with resistance and breaking down your journey into manageable, achievable steps.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to empower my clients in managing anxiety, depression, anger, and trauma-related challenges. With over 18 years of experience and extensive training in CBT for various conditions, I offer effective solutions to individuals in crisis, those on a path of personal growth, and those seeking to sustain their progress. CBT stands out as a brief yet highly effective approach for addressing depression and anxiety. It equips you with practical skills that extend beyond therapy to think about how your thoughts effect your feelings and then your behaviors. By working on changing your thoughts you can manage your stress, and cope with ongoing chronic illnesses successfully.

Trauma Informed Care

I've dedicated my career to supporting survivors of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. Throughout my practice, I've had the privilege of working with children, biological families, and adoptive/foster families, helping them use trauma-informed practices in their homes. These practices not only limit maladaptive safety-seeking behaviors and conflicts within the family but also foster stronger connections with oneself and others, serving as a source of inner strength. I employ a variety of therapeutic approaches, including talk therapy, art therapy, and media-assisted therapy. These methods are designed to bridge the gap between your unconscious self and your thoughts and emotions. Through our work together, you'll not only heal but also emerge as someone who has not just survived but truly thrived.

Interpersonal

I truly believe in the amazing potential of people to create, inspire, and heal. However, life can be tough, and sometimes we unintentionally direct our pain towards the people we hold dearest. Understanding your relationship patterns and learning how to make them healthier can be a powerful tool to enhance your well-being and mental health. I'm here to guide you in discovering how your connections with your parents, children, coworkers, friends, and family can contribute to your happiness and overall mental wellness starting today.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I have extensive experience as the lead family therapist within various inpatient and partial hospitalization units. I am passionate about involving parents in their child's individual therapy, providing them with valuable coaching and communication skills. My goal is to assist you and your family in identifying areas for growth and equipping you with effective strategies to enhance family functioning, communication, scheduling, and mutual understanding. I specialize in utilizing evidence-based approaches such as Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), Collaborative Problem Solving, and Family Systems Therapy. Moreover, I am well-versed in non-traditional therapeutic methods, including play-based therapy, art therapy, sand tray therapy, filial therapy, and sensory integrative techniques.

Christian Counseling

I am a Methodist who believes that God calls us to love everyone, regardless of how similar or different they may be from us. I also believe that God created us as beings worthy of love and shaped us according to His divine plan. We are all endowed with free will and the responsibility to determine our path in fulfilling our divine purpose. I am confident that we can explore how your faith influences your mental well-being and your understanding of God's calling in your life. I have employed Christian-based counseling techniques to assist families in supporting their children during their LGBTQIA questioning and identification period, as well as helping individuals dealing with depression, traumatic loss, and stress. The question of how God can love us while allowing us to experience pain is a common struggle for many people of faith. In addition to offering evidence-based practices to address your symptoms of depression and stress, I can also assist you in finding faith-based answers that bring you peace and healing.
