Hello, Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor(LPCC-S) in the state of Kentucky. I have been practicing counseling in various forms since 2011, and becoming fully licensed professionally to practice in 2015 (13 years total). My role as your counselor is not to rescue you from your emotions, but rather help you gain a better understanding of your emotions by developing a sense of self that is both empowered and autonomous. While working together, I hope to help you meet your personal goals, have a growing knowledge of self through psycho-education, adopt coping strategies, and build a stronger sense of self-reliance while learning from and working through current and past life experiences. It is my goal to be with you through this process with non-judgment, encouragement, and unconditional positive regard as a respected and unique individual. I use an eclectic, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In my first session, I generally like to introduce myself and give a short run down on what to expect in counseling with me. I also give the client plenty of time to introduce themselves and discuss the reasons why they are seeking mental health treatment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel that my greatest strength as a counseling provider is my empathy and ability to meet my clients where they are struggling and provide appropriate encouragement and support.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a basic treatment method. I focus on identifying a person's thinking about a specific thought about a certain subject (anxiety, depression, relationships, etc), explore their feelings about that thought, and have the client learn to reframe that thought so that they can have better feelings/outcomes for the behaviors associated.

Faith based therapy

My undergraduate background is in intercultural studies which helps to give me a perspective to understand people and their overall worldview. With as many cultures, religions, creeds, and denominations with their own unique styles, it can also be said that each individual is also unique with their varying beliefs about the world and spirituality. I have helped individuals across many different faiths (Chrisitianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Atheism, etc) reach better understandings of the world for themselves within their own personal belief system. Faith based therapy is NOT a place to try to convert individuals from one belief to another, but rather to help them understand their current belief system within their own experiences of the world around them.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered is the core of my primary approach to counseling, which is primarily empathy and unconditional positive regard. Unconditional positive regard is my base as a counselor, which helps me see the client without judgment on their thoughts/feelings/actions which they have made in their life.

Trauma Informed Care

This method allows me to see each individual as they are, and with the knowledge that the client may have endured trauma in their life that they may not even be aware of prior to entering counseling. Trauma often skews our perception of the world and can make us think/feel/believe in a way that is maladaptive.

Psychoeducation

"Knowledge is power"- Francis Bacon. With a greater understanding with how our individual and collective psychology works, psychoeducation can begin to illuminate more troublesome spots in our worldviews that may lead to maladaptive thoughts/behaviors within our lives.
