Hi, I’m Dr. Nate, a licensed mental health counselor passionate about helping people reconnect with themselves, heal from past wounds, and build relationships that feel safe and meaningful. I specialize in supporting individuals and couples navigating religious trauma, sexuality, identity, and emotional disconnection. Therapy with me is a collaborative, compassionate space where your story matters and your autonomy is honored.
Our first session is all about creating a space where you can feel safe, seen, and not rushed. We'll take time to get to know each other you can share what brings you in, what’s been feeling heavy or confusing, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. I may ask a few gentle questions to help understand your story, your relationships, and any experiences that feel important to name, but there’s no pressure to share everything all at once. This time is for you, and it’s okay to come in unsure of where to start. Whether you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or just curious about what therapy might offer, we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. My goal in that first session is to begin building a connection that feels steady and supportive one where your story is honored and your autonomy is always respected.
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is creating a space where people feel genuinely safe to show up as they are no masks, no pretending. Clients often tell me they appreciate how deeply I listen, how I hold their stories with care, and how I gently help them explore the places they’ve been afraid to go alone. I’m especially skilled at helping clients untangle the effects of religious trauma, shame, and anxiety, while guiding them toward greater self-trust, body autonomy, and emotional freedom. I use approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help people reconnect with what matters most to them and move forward with clarity and compassion. I’m not here to fix you, I’m here to walk with you as you heal, reclaim your story, and build a life that feels like your own.
I’m especially well-suited to work with clients who are healing from religious trauma, untangling themselves from purity culture, and learning how to feel safe and whole in their own bodies again. Many of my clients are in the process of deconstructing beliefs that once shaped every part of their identity including their views on sexuality, relationships, and self-worth. My clients are often now seeking a more authentic, grounded way of living. My ideal clients often carry anxiety, shame, or self-doubt that stems from years of being told who they’re supposed to be. They may be struggling with issues like low desire, sexual shame, relationship conflict, or emotional disconnection. Others are navigating grief after loss (including pet loss), building autonomy after growing up in high-control environments, or working to reclaim their voice and agency in the face of internalized oppression. Whether you're exploring your identity, healing from trauma, processing spiritual abuse, learning to relate differently to anxiety, or seeking greater emotional connection in your relationships I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion and care. I offer a space that honors your story, your pace, and your values. Together, we’ll unpack the narratives that no longer serve you, deepen your connection to yourself and others, and help you move toward a life that feels more free, empowered, and fully yours.
In our work together, EFT helps us slow down and gently explore the emotional patterns shaping your relationships. We’ll identify where disconnection shows up, understand what’s really going on underneath, and create more emotional safety, clarity, and connection, both with yourself and with others.
So many of us carry stories that were written for us by others, stories rooted in shame, fear, or control. Through Narrative Therapy, we’ll explore those stories with curiosity and compassion, and begin to co-author a new story, specifically, one that honors your lived experience and aligns with the life you want to create.
Using ACT, we’ll learn how to relate differently to difficult thoughts and feelings, not by trying to get rid of them, but by making room for them while staying connected to what matters most. You’ll gain tools to move forward with purpose, even when things feel uncertain or heavy.
In our sessions, I’ll help you identify the strengths you already have, the progress you've already made, and the future you’re hoping for. With Solution Focused work, we won’t ignore the hard parts, but we’ll also look for the signs of possibility and change that are already showing up.
