Emma Robertson
I’m a warm, compassionate therapist who believes that meaningful change begins with feeling truly seen and understood. I create a supportive, judgment-free space where you can slow down, explore what’s happening beneath the surface, and better understand yourself and your relationships. My approach is collaborative and grounded, with a focus on helping you build greater self-awareness, confidence, and a life that feels more aligned with who you are and what you want.
First session
Your first session is a chance to get comfortable, share what brings you to therapy, and begin getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what you’re experiencing, what you hope to get from therapy, and what feels most important to you right now. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of how we can work together toward the changes you’re hoping to make.
Strengths
I bring warmth, empathy, curiosity, and a genuine desire to understand each person’s unique experience. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe being honest, vulnerable, and fully themselves. I also bring a practical, grounded approach to therapy, helping clients not only gain insight into their experiences but also develop tools and strategies they can use in their everyday lives.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to better understand themselves and create meaningful change in their life. They may be navigating relationship challenges, major life transitions, anxiety, self-doubt, or patterns that they recognize are no longer serving them. They are curious, open to self-reflection, and looking for a therapist who will offer both compassion and honest perspective. I especially enjoy working with people who want to build stronger relationships, develop greater confidence and self-trust, and create a life that feels more intentional and authentic.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we’ll identify patterns that may be contributing to stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or relationship challenges and explore more balanced and helpful ways of thinking and responding. I use CBT in a practical and collaborative way, giving clients tools they can apply between sessions while also making space to understand the deeper experiences behind these patterns.
Attachment-based
I use attachment-based therapy to help clients understand how their early experiences and relationships may have shaped the way they connect with others, communicate, and respond to closeness, conflict, or rejection. Together, we’ll explore relationship patterns with curiosity and compassion, without judgment, and work toward developing greater emotional security and self-awareness. My goal is to help clients build healthier relationships, strengthen boundaries, communicate their needs more confidently, and develop a more secure and trusting relationship with themselves and others.
Compassion Focused
I use Compassion-Focused Therapy to help clients develop a kinder, more understanding relationship with themselves, especially when they struggle with self-criticism, shame, or feelings of not being good enough. Together, we’ll explore the inner voice that can be harsh or judgmental and work toward responding to difficult emotions with greater compassion and understanding. I help clients build self-compassion, emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of self-worth so they can navigate challenges without being so hard on themselves.
Trauma Informed Care
I use a trauma-informed approach by creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where clients have a sense of control over their therapeutic experience. I recognize that past experiences can shape how we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to stress, and I approach these experiences with curiosity rather than judgment. We move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, with an emphasis on building trust, understanding patterns, and strengthening your sense of safety, choice, and empowerment.
