Hi, I'm Sarah Harris a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience helping women break free from unwanted, negative patterns and cycles in their life. I help women who have been able to create a certain level of achievement and accomplishment but are finding themselves struggling with certain areas of self-sabotage, negative thinking, unhealthy behavior patterns they just can't seem to break. Are you feeling frustrated, hopeless and helpless because as much as you have been able to create positive areas of your life you still feel like you are holding yourself back and feel stuck in unwanted cycles of self-defeat? Creating true transformation can become even more complicated if there is a history of trauma, or current struggles with anxiety, depression, low-self esteem, lack of motivation or low confidence. As hard as it can feel, change is possible. People do change. I help my clients take back control of their lives by breaking through negative thought and belief patterns, toxic behavior cycles, and unhealthy relationships that are holding them back in certain areas of their life. I help them understand what is happening in their brain, why they respond the way they do and how to overcome these unhealthy patterns.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will begin with brief introductions and then we go over the intake form that you fill out prior to our session together. This will help me to get a better understanding of what you are currently seeking therapy for as well as get more information on some of your history that may be impacting you and playing a part of what you are struggling with today. I want my client's to feel at ease that I will lead the session and help guide the way, I will ask the questions to help you feel comfortable and free enough to openly express yourself.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

When people find themselves feeling like they are unable to change the things they don't like about themselves or their life it is very easy for hopelessness, helplessness, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and feelings of defeat to settle in. So many people end up feeling like something is wrong with them when they are unsuccessful in creating change. Most of our struggles are because of the natural wiring of brain, learned patterns that served us children but now keep us stuck. These behaviors and ways of being that don't serve you are not who you are. They are a result of neurological wiring, your nervous system and self-protection. I help my clients become empowered by understanding how their brain works, why they are responding the way they are and how to actually change it.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am passionate about working with women who are tired of repeating the same cycles and feel deep down inside that God has more for them but they just don't know what to do to get "unstuck" from these unwanted patterns in their life.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

For many of my client's their faith is important for part of their life and something that they don't want to be seperate from the work that they are doing to heal and improve their life. I offer Christian counseling from a Bibical perspective for my Christian clients that desire to keep their faith at the center of everything they do in their life.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) originated as a treatment to address past history of trauma. As more research has been conducted it has been shown that EMDR can be such a powerful tool in treating other conditions such as anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. It has been such an amazing modality to use for many of my clients to help them completely break free from issues they have struggled with for a long time. EMDR helps clients not just to improve ability to cope but it helps to resolve the root cause that is creating the issue so that the problem no longer impacts you the way it was before.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our thoughts, emotions and behaviors are all connected and impacting the results that we are getting in our lives. Many try to implement change by just changing their behaviors and then wonder why it is so difficult to be able to actual maintain the changes. This is because it's not just behavior at play. CBT helps to address the cognitions (thoughts) as well as the behaviors and emotions that are connected impacting the quality of your life.
