I have over 25 years of experience treating clients in inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings. For the past 19 years I was an outpatient therapist for adults struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and facing general life stressors and transitions. I also served as a therapist for clients in a bariatric surgery program as they moved through the stages of their weight loss journey by helping them address issues related to binge eating, self esteem, body image, and general behavioral health obstacles.

First session

Starting therapy can be intimidating and feel like a big step, and the first session is really about beginning that process together. We’ll spend time talking about what brings you in, what’s been feeling difficult, and what you hope might change or improve. I’ll also ask some questions to better understand your background and current experiences, but there’s no expectation that you have to tell your whole story right away. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. Together, we’ll start to get a sense of what you need and how therapy can help.

Strengths

What stands out about my therapeutic approach is the balance of compassion, insight, curiosity, and practical tools. I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel truly understood while also being gently challenged to explore patterns that may no longer be serving them. My work is collaborative and tailored to each person—I don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. I help clients build a healthier relationship with themselves, their emotions, and their behaviors by looking beyond symptoms to understand the deeper factors that may be contributing to distress. Whether we’re working with anxiety, body image concerns, binge eating, life transitions, or emotional overwhelm, my goal is to help clients develop greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and lasting change—not just short-term coping. I strive to create a space that feels supportive, nonjudgmental, and real—where clients feel safe enough to explore honestly, but also empowered to make meaningful changes. I integrate insight with practical tools, helping clients build self-awareness, improve coping, and develop a healthier relationship with themselves. Clients come away with not only a better understanding of why they struggle, but concrete ways to move forward with greater confidence and self-compassion. Clients often tell me they appreciate exploring difficult experiences while also gaining practical strategies they can use in everyday life.

Ideal clients

I’d love to help you explore ways you can cultivate a life that feels more manageable and fulfilling that matches your "wish list" of what you want and deserve. I am best positioned to serve clients who struggle with anxiety disorders (including generalized anxiety, panic, and OCD), depression, and bipolar disorder. I also have specialized experience supporting clients in all stages of bariatric and weight loss processes.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My treatment approach is centered around cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which operates from the theory that our emotions and actions are based upon our thoughts rather than automatically occurring in response to a trigger. Learning to change our thoughts about situations in our lives allows us to gain empowerment over our feelings and therefore to change them. CBT is one of the most effective treatment methods that helps decrease anxiety and depression.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a treatment method that centers around learning ways to regulate emotions, increase mindfulness, gain insight into relationships, and tolerate distress. I will teach skills to help you tolerate and survive intense, painful emotions without resorting to impulsive or destructive behaviors.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP Therapy) teaches a method to help you challenge triggers to anxiety, panic, and OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) by creating safe "experiments" that safely and gradually expose you to triggers while learning to strengthen your coping skills. I will teach you to strategies that you can use at the onset of anxiety to prevent it from intensifying.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use Mindfulness Therapy to teach you to focus on present-moment awareness without judgment. Instead of changing the content of negative thoughts, I will help you learn to observe and accept thoughts and feelings as they are which helps you break free from automatic, unhelpful reactions and respond to life with greater intention and awareness.

Solution-Focused Brief Treatment

I will help you create future-focused goals rather than dwelling on the past. You will learn how to designate small steps that are built on what strengths you already have but may be underutilizing.
