Liz Kuchak
Are you struggling with issues related to trauma, addiction, anxiety, self-esteem issues, or major life changes? Are you a new mom and struggle with guilt? There comes a time when we need some help from a certified professional to help cope with many of life’s challenges. I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the, and I’d love to help you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery. Life can be overwhelming and sometimes even exhausting, but I’m here to guide you through any obstacles you may face. My goal is to help you understand yourself more deeply and better cope with change. Together, we can bring you to find the balance you are searching for in your life.
Overall, I use a psychodynamic and analytic approach, creating a space space to explore their past and present issues in order to find the root of the issues and create a healing and satisfying future.
First session
Our first session is a space for you to share your story at your own pace. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, your goals, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I’ll ask some questions to better understand your background and current challenges, but there’s no pressure. This is your time to feel heard and supported. By the end of the session, we’ll begin to outline a plan for therapy that feels comfortable and realistic for you.
Strengths
I currently work with individuals struggling with life transitions which cause them to experience anxiety and/or are in a depressive state. Those struggles can be postpartum, grief, or any changes they are having trouble coping with. I have five years of experience working with individuals struggling with addiction, substance abuse, and trauma. Nevertheless, patients are provided a safe space to share freely, and work diligently to help find them the answers they are seeking.
Ideal clients
life transitions and anxiety substance abuse after client finishes treatment/ rehab pre and post-partum issues for parents people who moved from Europe who are having difficulty adjusting I am also fluent in Armenian (can we please add this to the language list, there is a huge population in California)
Treatment methods
Psychoanalytic
I use a psychoanalytic approach to help patients explore unconscious thoughts, early childhood experiences, and recurring patterns in relationships. Through techniques like free association and interpretation, we work together to gain insight into internal conflicts and unresolved issues affecting current behavior.
Psychodynamic
In my psychodynamic work, I focus on helping patients understand how their past experiences and interpersonal relationships shape their present emotions and behaviors. I use this insight-oriented approach to support patients in developing greater self-awareness and fostering emotional growth.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I incorporate CBT techniques to help patients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. Together, we develop practical strategies for coping with anxiety, depression, and other concerns, while building healthier, more adaptive thinking patterns.
