Do you feel overwhelmed by day-to-day living? Is there something weighing heavily on your mind that is affecting your ability to function as well as you want to? Being able to talk about those feelings with someone can be a huge relief. I believe that establishing a good relationship between the therapist and the client is critical to the healing process. Using a non-judgmental approach, I work with my clients to explore and identify what is the root cause of the distress and together, we set goals for solutions to managing or overcoming the source of the issue. I have been fortunate to gain 27 years of professional experience in many settings with a variety of different people. I did individual, group and family therapy for teens that were involved in the juvenile justice system. I worked as a school social worker, school administrator, autism consultant, behavior coach, public speaker and parent trainer. I am also a parent myself who can draw from many of my own personal experiences. My professional development has been expansive and often depends on the needs of my position and my clients. I feel it is important to meet you where you are at and listen to your story. It takes courage to reach out and ask for help. You have taken the first step in identifying that something doesn't feel right. I will meet you with compassion and evidence-based strategies to overcome the things that are holding you back from a peaceful and joyful life. I am ready when you are!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll go through introductions of one another. We'll review the confidentiality of the therapeutic setting and discuss the preferred format for counseling (phone, video). Next, we'll review the intake, where I can get to know more about the client and the presenting issue and the client can choose to add anything additional. At the end of the session, the client and I can come up with goals to address through future counseling sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a Certified Anxiety Treatment Professional and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. I have extensive training in the area of Autism as well as in other learning difficulties. I have experience working with sexual abuse, poverty, trauma, and mental health issues.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a Certified Anxiety Treatment Professional, I help clients see how their personal beliefs can influence their thoughts and feelings about situations. Teaching them to reframe these situations can help them develop better outcomes without those strong feelings of negativity.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is one of the methodologies I have been using for the past few years. It allows the client to accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment, but to stay present on the current moment. I frequently use the ACT matrix which helps clients determine what is most important to them and to set goals to work towards getting closer to those things.
