Hello, Judy here. I have a flexible and collaborative approach to therapy, as I know each of us has unique needs and wants. I am a highly sensitive person who has been on my own healing journey. In my free time I like to walk with my two dogs, hike, dance and spend time with friends and family. I have a 21 year old daughter of whom I'm very proud.

First session

My intention is to offer a safe space for people to be themselves, to feel accepted and not judged. A first session usually involves intake questions about background and reasons for seeking therapy, but I strive to offer some relief from the issue and an increased sense of self compassion and a light at the end of the tunnel.

Strengths

I use an intuitive balance of holding sacred space for my clients, and of gently but firmly challenging them on old beliefs or patterns that we have learned together no longer work for them. My own difficulties and journey through them to healing give me lots of empathy, and my experience with looking at parts of the self that might be hard to see, have taught me where to be gentle and where to be firm. My years of experience as a therapist have taught me how to notice and acknowledge, even when it is difficult.

Ideal clients

I am passionate about working with human beings who struggle with self-confidence, self-blame and moving forward from past mistakes or hurts, and who desire trust and friendship with themselves. and a full, authentic life! In addition to counseling adults, I specialize in play therapy and coping strategies for teens and children, and my training as a family therapist lets me help you find new meaning and new ways forward as a family, small or large. I strive to be aware and affirming of differences including culture, neurodiversity, and LGBTQIA+ issues.

Treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I often use Neuro-Affective Relational Model (NARM). NARM is a collaborative, trauma-informed approach that respects and promotes one's own agency in life. We look deeply at what you would like for yourself, or what intentions you have for your life, and what gets in the way of this. And then we tap into your intrinsic ability to heal and create your life in ways that are authentic for you.

Play Therapy

Play therapy is a fun and participatory way for kids to find their own voice or to acknowledge and heal trauma or other difficulties, resolving these in a way that is developmentally appropriate for them.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I am trained in an evidence-based model for families called Functional Family Therapy (FFT). This is a strength-based therapy that focuses on the relationships among family members, discovering and strengthening the family's strengths and weakening the weaknesses. Each member can take responsibility for their part in the family and also get their needs met.
