New to Grow
Hi, I'm Danielle McNear, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Illinois. I received my Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University in 2019. I have worked in the social work field for over a decade and have experience serving clients in private practice, medical social work, crisis intervention, and family service settings. Throughout my career, I have been committed to helping individuals navigate life's challenges, building on their strengths, and improve their overall well-being.
I believe the first therapy session is an important opportunity for both the client and me to get to know one another and start working on building a strong therapeutic relationship. During this initial meeting, I take time to learn about the client's unique experiences, concerns, strengths, and goals while also helping them understand my approach to therapy.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in meeting clients there they are and providing a person-centered experience that honors their unique needs, perspectives, and goals. I believe that each individual is an expert on their own life, and I strive to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, valued, and understood.
As a therapist, I enjoy supporting young and middle-aged adults as they navigate life's transitions and everyday stressors. Whether clients are struggling with work-life balance, career changes, parenting responsibilities, relationship concerns, or multiple competing demands, I provide a supportive and collaborative environment to help them process challenges and build effective coping strategies. My goal is to help individuals create meaningful change, enhance life satisfaction, and feel more confident in managing complexities of adulthood.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I enjoy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with clients as it can help them identify the relationship between their thoughts and actions. Being able to increase awareness and challenge negative thoughts can help someone develop healthier coping strategies to improve their overall well-being.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I like to incorporate ACT in to practice when it comes to the aspect of mindfulness to help clients stay grounded in the moment, increase self-awareness, and recognitive positive aspects of their lives. ACT also helps clients reflect on their personal values and ensure our actions are in line with our values.
