New to Grow
Hi, I'm Madison! Whether you are a neurodivergent adolescent or adult, a caregiver, or a fellow helper, this is the space for you. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming board-certified music therapist and PA licensed counselor who works across the lifespan helping people manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, burnout, compassion fatigue, identity development, and life transitions. I work with neurodivergent children and adults (Autism, brain injuries, learning disabilities, intellectual and developmental disabilities), caregivers (to kids, parents, siblings, etc) and people in helping professions (nurses, therapists, teachers, etc). I look forward to connecting with you!
You can expect a warm, welcoming, unhurried first session. I will ask thoughtful questions about what brought you here, what matters most to you, and how we might work together. There is no pressure to have everything figured out before we begin. My goal is that you leave feeling a little less alone and more hopeful about what is possible.
I am a board-certified music therapist and a PA Licensed counselor who brings a creative and whole-person lens to my clinical work. I adapt to what each person needs. My strengths include my background as a music therapist, my warm and welcoming demeanor and my acknowledgement of systemic issues that affect clients.
I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist that works with individuals across the lifespan. I use a creative, person-centered, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approach to therapy. I help folks with anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity development, compassion fatigue, burnout, ADHD and more. I respond and adapt to each individual client in a way that best fits their needs. I incorporate mindfulness based techniques, psycho-education, and expressive arts (music therapy).
I work to foster an environment that respects and honors the cultural identifies of my clients. I work to integrate clients cultural backgrounds, their identities, and their lived experiences into our work together. I acknowledge the external factors (racism, discrimination, oppression, white supremacy, etc) that impact mental and physical health and I validate the experiences of my clients. I practice cultural humility through consistently engaging in self-reflection to address my own biases and recognize power dynamics. I work to balance those power dynamics in therapy, respecting the client as the expert of their own life.
Humanistic therapy is a form of talk therapy that focuses on the whole person, especially their positive characteristics and potential for growth. I meet each individual client in a nonjudgmental manner, meeting them where they are with empathy and support to help them develop their own skills to grow and heal.
Strength-based therapy focuses on internal strengths and resourcefulness, rather than on weaknesses, failures, and shortcomings. Together we will work to set up a positive mindset that helps you build on your best qualities, find your strengths, improve resilience, and change your worldview to one that is more positive.
