Hi, I’m Stephanie, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor serving clients throughout Florida via telehealth. I help individuals work through identity struggles, low self-esteem, trauma, substance use, relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns — especially when therapy hasn’t felt effective in the past. I use a mix of approaches (CBT, IFS, DBT, trauma-informed, mindfulness, solution-focused, and existential work) so therapy is tailored, not one-size-fits-all. Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) by helping clients identify and challenge their negative thought patterns and beliefs. Through structured sessions, I guide clients in understanding the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and teach practical strategies to modify unhelpful patterns. Additionally, I collaboratively set goals and develop personalized coping skills to manage difficulties and promote lasting change.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) by combining both acceptance and change-based strategies to support clients with emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. You teach skills such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness to help clients manage intense emotions, navigate relationships, and cope with challenging situations. Additionally, you emphasize validation and dialectics to help clients find a balance between acceptance and change, fostering growth and resilience. DBT is effective in treating Borderline Personality Disorder.
Motivational Interviewing
I apply Motivational Interviewing (MI) as a collaborative, goal-oriented approach to elicit and strengthen clients' motivation for change. Through empathetic listening, reflective questioning, and affirmation of their autonomy, I help clients explore their ambivalence about behavior change and resolve any discrepancies between their goals and actions. By fostering intrinsic motivation and self-efficacy, I empower clients to make meaningful and sustainable changes in their lives.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy to help clients identify and understand the different parts of themselves, such as protective and wounded parts. Through guided visualization and curiosity, I support clients in connecting with their core Self to heal emotional pain and restore inner balance. This approach allows clients to build self-compassion, reduce internal conflict, and create lasting change.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I utilize Solution-Focused Therapy by focusing on clients' strengths, resources, and solutions rather than dwelling on problems. Through collaborative dialogue and questioning, I help clients envision their desired outcomes and identify small, achievable steps towards their goals. By highlighting past successes and amplifying clients' agency, I facilitate rapid change and empower clients to build on their strengths to create positive change in their lives.
