Hi, my name is Sylvia Eboigbe, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and the owner of Mindful Moments Therapy. I have six years of experience as a mental health therapist and have had the privilege of providing services across multiple states and cities, supporting individuals in a variety of clinical and community settings. Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse populations in school systems, correctional facilities, substance abuse treatment centers, intensive outpatient programs, and on a Native American reservation. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the many ways people navigate life challenges and the importance of culturally responsive, compassionate care. I support adults as they work through life transitions, emotional distress, and relationship challenges with greater self-understanding, balance, and self-compassion. My therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), where we explore the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, along with mindfulness-based practices that help you stay grounded and present in the moment. I also incorporate strengths-based therapy, which focuses on identifying and building upon your existing resilience, values, and inner resources. Together, these approaches create a supportive space where you can increase awareness, develop healthier coping strategies, and move toward meaningful and lasting change. My goal is to walk alongside you in a collaborative and supportive way as you build insight, strengthen emotional well-being, and reconnect with your sense of self.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to make your first session as comfortable, supportive, and welcoming as possible. You can expect a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you are met with understanding, respect, and care. In our first session, we will begin by reviewing your intake forms together. This helps me better understand your background, current concerns, and what brought you to therapy. You are always welcome to share at your own pace—there is no pressure to go into anything before you feel ready. We will also spend time getting to know each other. I may ask questions about your goals for therapy, what you hope to gain from our work together, and any specific challenges you are currently facing. This helps us begin to shape a direction for treatment that feels meaningful and personalized to you. Most importantly, the first session is about creating a sense of safety and connection. You do not need to have everything figured out, and you will not be expected to share more than you are comfortable with. My focus is on helping you feel heard, supported, and respected as we begin building a therapeutic relationship at a pace that feels right for you. By the end of the session, we will discuss next steps and begin outlining how we can work together moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a therapist, I prioritize being fully present with my clients and creating a supportive, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where they feel safe to share their experiences. I strive to deeply understand each client’s story while consistently highlighting their strengths, resilience, and progress. I take a flexible, collaborative approach to therapy, tailoring sessions to meet each client’s unique needs. When appropriate, I may offer reflections, insights, or practical things to consider between sessions to support continued growth outside of therapy. I value the therapeutic relationship as the foundation of meaningful change, and I work intentionally to ensure each client feels seen, heard, understood, and respected throughout the process.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who is ready to engage in the therapeutic process and make meaningful changes in their life. They may be navigating challenges such as divorce, a difficult breakup, relationship concerns, low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, or major life transitions. This individual may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain, but is open to support, reflection, and growth. Together, we work to build insight, develop healthier coping strategies, and create a stronger sense of emotional balance and well-being.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my work with clients, I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a practical and supportive approach that helps you better understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT is based on the idea that the way we think about situations strongly influences how we feel and what we do. Sometimes, we can get stuck in unhelpful thinking patterns—like self-criticism, worry, or expecting the worst—which can increase anxiety, depression, or stress. In therapy, we work together to gently identify these patterns and explore more balanced and helpful ways of thinking. You won’t be told what to think or how to feel—instead, you’ll be supported in developing your own skills to notice unhelpful thoughts, challenge them when needed, and replace them with perspectives that feel more realistic and supportive. CBT is also very action-oriented. Along with talking through your experiences, we may work on practical coping strategies, small goals between sessions, and tools you can use in your daily life. The goal is to help you feel more in control, build confidence, and create lasting change outside of therapy. My approach is collaborative and paced with your comfort in mind. We go at a speed that feels right for you, and every step is centered on your goals and needs.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

incorporate mindfulness as a way to help you feel more grounded, present, and connected to yourself in everyday life. Mindfulness is the practice of gently bringing your attention to the present moment—your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations—without judgment. Many of us spend a lot of time worrying about the future or replaying the past, which can increase stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm. Mindfulness helps slow things down so you can notice what’s happening within you, right now, with more clarity and compassion. In therapy, I may guide you through simple mindfulness practices such as focused breathing, body awareness, or grounding exercises. We also explore how to bring mindfulness into your daily routine in realistic and practical ways—not as something you have to do perfectly, but as a supportive tool you can return to when life feels overwhelming. Over time, mindfulness can help you become more aware of your emotional patterns, respond to stress with greater calm, and create space between what you feel and how you choose to respond. The goal is not to eliminate difficult emotions, but to build a healthier relationship with them so they feel more manageable. My approach is gentle, collaborative, and tailored to your comfort level. We move at a pace that feels safe and supportive for you.

Psychodynamic

I may use a psychodynamic approach to help you better understand the deeper patterns that influence your thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on exploring how past experiences—especially early relationships and significant life events—can shape the way we see ourselves and respond to others today. Sometimes, patterns we developed earlier in life continue to show up in adulthood, even when they no longer serve us. In therapy, we gently explore these patterns together in a safe and supportive space. This may include noticing recurring themes in your relationships, understanding emotional reactions that feel intense or confusing, and becoming more aware of thoughts or feelings that may not always be easy to put into words. The goal is not to dwell on the past, but to help you gain insight into how your experiences have shaped you, so you can make more intentional choices in the present. As insight grows, many clients find they feel more self-aware, more emotionally balanced, and better able to navigate relationships and life challenges. My approach is collaborative and paced with care. We move at a speed that feels comfortable for you, with a focus on understanding, growth, and healing.

Strength-Based

I take a strengths-based approach, which means we focus not only on challenges and difficulties, but also on your existing strengths, resilience, and capacity for growth. Everyone has strengths—even in times when it may not feel that way. These strengths might include personal qualities like perseverance, compassion, creativity, or courage, as well as external supports such as relationships, values, culture, and life experiences that have helped you get through difficult times. In therapy, we work together to identify and build on these strengths. Rather than focusing solely on what feels “wrong” or needs to be fixed, we also explore what has helped you cope in the past, what is currently working for you, and how you can use those strengths more intentionally moving forward. This approach is collaborative and empowering. The goal is to support you in recognizing your own resilience and using it as a foundation for healing, growth, and meaningful change. Even when life feels overwhelming, we look for the tools and inner resources that can help you move forward in a way that feels authentic and sustainable. Our work moves at your pace and is always centered on your goals, values, and lived experience.
