Quang-Trung Dang
I previously worked as a psychiatric physician assistant and then returned to medical school to become a full-fledged psychiatrist. My approach to treating mental illness is collaborative, thoughtful, and patient-centered. I work closely with each individual, making decisions together and only pursuing changes they feel comfortable with. I take a conservative approach to medication while placing strong emphasis on the value of psychotherapy as a foundation for lasting progress. Transparency is important, not just in communication but also in billing, ensuring patients understand and are comfortable with the services they receive. Above all, I prioritize open communication and an open mind, creating a space where patients feel heard, respected, and supported.
First session
Our first appointment is a comprehensive 60-minute psychiatric evaluation. During this visit, I will take the time to learn about your life experiences, current challenges, strengths, and goals so I can better understand the full picture of who you are. Together, we will identify ways to help you become the healthiest, happiest, and most authentic version of yourself today.
Strengths
I believe medication management and therapy work best as a collaborative partnership. Together, we will discuss your goals, preferences, and concerns, and make decisions that feel right for you. We will only pursue treatments you are comfortable with and move at a pace that feels appropriate, whether that means taking things slowly or making changes more quickly. My role is to provide guidance and support while respecting your autonomy every step of the way.
Ideal clients
My ideal psychiatric client is someone who genuinely wants positive change in their life and is motivated to actively participate in the treatment process. Meaningful growth often comes from a collaborative effort, and I enjoy working with individuals who are willing to engage in self-reflection, practice new skills, and take consistent steps toward their goals. While change can be challenging, a willingness to put in the work creates the foundation for lasting progress and improved well-being.
