Maria May
Hello, I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing compassionate, evidence-based care for children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. I specialize in helping individuals manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma-related concerns, and the challenges that often accompany major life transitions. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and personalized. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where patients feel heard and understood. Together, we develop treatment plans that align with each person's goals, strengths, and unique circumstances to promote emotional well-being and long-term success.
First session
During our first session, we'll take time to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to treatment. I will ask questions about your current concerns, symptoms, medical and mental health history, lifestyle, relationships, and goals so I can gain a comprehensive understanding of your needs. This appointment is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and share what you hope to achieve through treatment. Together, we will discuss possible diagnoses, review treatment options, and begin developing a personalized care plan that may include medication management, therapy recommendations, lifestyle strategies, or additional resources. My goal is to create a supportive, collaborative environment where you feel comfortable, heard, and empowered to take the next steps toward improved mental health and well-being.
Strengths
I bring a compassionate, patient-centered approach that focuses on understanding each person's unique experiences, strengths, and goals. I believe that meaningful progress begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and open communication. My strengths include active listening, thorough psychiatric assessment, and the ability to create individualized treatment plans that are both evidence-based and practical. I work collaboratively with patients and families to ensure they feel informed, supported, and involved in their care. Whether helping children, adolescents, young adults, or adults navigate emotional challenges, life transitions, or mental health conditions, I strive to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where patients feel heard, empowered, and hopeful about their path forward.
Ideal clients
I help children, teens, young adults, and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma, autism spectrum concerns, and life transitions. Whether you're adjusting to a new school, career change, relationship challenge, parenting responsibilities, or other major life event, I provide compassionate psychiatric care in a supportive and collaborative environment. Together, we'll create a personalized treatment plan that helps you feel more confident, balanced, and empowered to reach your goals.
