(she/her)
My name is Johelly Chalas, and I am a licensed mental health counselor who is bilingual. I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology from UMass and pursued a master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College. Over the past ten years, I have worked with a diverse range of clients in in-home, school-based, and outpatient mental health settings. I have continued building my educational background with multiple certifications in trauma.
Our first session is designed with a brief introduction about each other to build relationships and knowledge about the background. Continues by identifying the reason for seeking treatment. Develop a safety plan that includes natural support, coping strategies, and local crisis resources that are 24-service, review or complete PHQ9-8 or, as my other assessment completed the previous session, and identify treatment goals to achieve using our measures tool.
My greatest strength is the ability to communicate and build a treatment that allows clients to fully understand the process of the treatment.
My clients need to desire to improve their lives but don't have the tools to achieve this goal—people who often feel stuck, overwhelmed, and anxious about day-to-day routine or negative experiences.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I believe that we are an expert in our lives, and with proper guidance, we develop the ability to deal with difficult situations. Using CBT interventions, the main factor is how thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors affect our feelings and actions, as evidenced by CBT is one of the most effective treatments to teach coping strategies and awareness about our rational thinking.

It was great having a therapist, who is Latina and warm. I felt very comfortable throughout our session.
