What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

With children I like to meet with parents and children together if that is a viable option and work to play some type of icebreaker to facilitate comfort and communication. In working with adults I work to obtain a thorough history and discuss with the clients their goals for therapy.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

Work with children and family members to provide support as well as therapeutic tools to promote healthy relationships. Address issues related to attachment challenges such as trauma, behavioral issues, parenting struggles, social challenges and overwhelm. I am a certified level 2 Theraplay © trained theraplay and have 15+ years working with clients with attachment based challenges.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I have extensive experience in helping parents/caregivers and children navigate stressful/traumatic events that impact their relationships. I work to provide education and support to caregivers/parents on understanding the challenges their families have encountered and ways to heal and repair from those. Empowering parents/caregivers to play a central role in the therapeutic work with these young child is vital to their success. I have a variety of techniques, educational materials and supports to help families work through these difficult situations.

Compassion Focused

This a technique I find helpful in working with clients who struggle with shame, self criticism, poor self esteem or a negative self image. The goal is this work is to help my clients process the events that contributed to these feelings and to cultivate the skills of experiencing self acceptance, safety and self awareness. This a mindful approach that I find is very helpful for clients who would like a slower, gentle approach to therapy.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I use Emotionally Focused Therapy in my work with individuals, families and couples to help resolve emotional and relational issues. The goal of this work is typically to help clients identify and transform maladaptive behaviors.

Family Therapy

Family Therapy is a wonderful technique for a variety of ages and family dynamics to address challenges that are impacting the family unit. This is a collaborative and interactive approach to treatment.
