New to Grow
Every stage of life brings its own challenges, transitions, and stories worth being heard. I specialize in working with older adults, supporting individuals through the emotional, cognitive, and life changes that come with aging. I also have a strong commitment to supporting caregivers. I understand the complexity of caring for a loved one—the balance of responsibility, love, stress, and, at times, grief. Caregivers deserve a space of their own to feel heard, supported, and understood as they navigate these challenges.
During our first session, the focus is on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy at this stage of life. We'll talk about your current concerns, as well as important aspects of your history, health, relationships, and any recent life changes such as retirement, medical changes, or loss
My approach is grounded in a strengths-based perspective, which means I intentionally focus on identifying, affirming, and building upon the existing abilities, talents, and positive qualities within each individual. I believe that every person possesses unique strengths, even in the face of adversity, and that these strengths can serve as powerful tools for growth, resilience, and long-term success. Rather than centering solely on deficits, challenges, or limitations, I strive to create a balanced and empowering environment where individuals feel seen, capable, and motivated to move forward. A key strength I bring to this approach is my ability to recognize potential in others, even when they may not yet see it in themselves. I take time to actively listen, observe patterns, and ask thoughtful questions that help uncover skills, values, and past successes. By doing this, I am able to highlight what is already working well and use those elements as a foundation for progress. This not only fosters confidence but also encourages a sense of ownership and self-efficacy in the individuals I support. I am also highly intentional about building strong, trust-based relationships. I understand that people are more likely to engage, grow, and take risks when they feel respected, valued, and understood. My communication style is empathetic, nonjudgmental, and collaborative, which helps create a safe space where individuals can openly share their experiences and aspirations. Through this connection, I am able to partner with them in a way that feels supportive rather than directive, reinforcing their autonomy and voice throughout the process.
My ideal client is an older adult or caregiver facing significant life transitions such as retirement, age related changes, loss of independence, changes in identity or grief related to a loved one. They may also be coping with chronic health conditions that impact daily functioning. Caregivers in particular may feel overwhelmed by responsibility, experience burnout, or struggle to balance their own needs with those of others
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT in session to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts and replace them with more balanced, effective ways of thinking.
Strength-Based
I focus on identifying and building on peoples existing strengths to help them achieve their goals and overcome challenges
