I am a survivor of polio and, as a child, faced the challenges of bullying—experiences that shaped both my resilience and my lifelong commitment to mental health care. My journey in Neuropsychiatry began in 1994 in India, and over the past three decades, I have served as both a physician and a nurse practitioner. In this time, I have witnessed the profound effects of untreated ADHD/ADD, autism, childhood trauma, anxiety, panic, depression, loss/grief, OCD, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance use disorders, anger, and many other often undiagnosed mental health conditions—not only on individuals, but also across families and generations. After earning certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates in the United States, I transitioned to serving the community in Georgia as a nurse practitioner in 2012, following my training at Kennesaw State University and the University of Cincinnati. I am honored to be a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is a chance for you to tell your story and, if possible, share about three generations of your biological family—siblings, parents, aunts and uncles, and grandparents. We’ll also talk about what you’d like to achieve. Together, we’ll shape your goals and create a plan to move forward. My goal is to make you feel safe, respected, and supported in a space where you can be open and vulnerable. From there, we’ll continue working side by side to turn your goals into real progress.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What makes Shashank Jha’s therapeutic approach unique is the seamless blend of medical precision, psychological insight, and human empathy born from decades of cross-disciplinary experience. As a former physician in India and now a psychiatric nurse practitioner in Georgia, Mr. Jha brings a rare biopsychosocial understanding to each encounter—seeing not just symptoms, but the whole person behind them. His approach is collaborative, patient-centered, and deeply reflective, focusing on helping individuals regain control over their emotional health with compassion and evidence-based care. By integrating medication management with supportive, cognitive-behavioral, and solution-focused therapy, he tailors each treatment plan to the patient’s unique strengths, challenges, and goals—never a one-size-fits-all model. Mr. Jha’s sessions emphasize trust, cultural sensitivity, and empowerment. He believes that healing occurs when patients feel heard, respected, and guided—not judged. His lived experience as a polio survivor since infancy adds a layer of personal authenticity and resilience to his practice, allowing him to connect deeply with patients facing chronic adversity or self-doubt. Through East Cobb Psychiatry LLC, Mr. Jha combines technology-driven telepsychiatry with traditional therapeutic warmth, offering accessible, ethical, and thoughtful mental health care across Georgia. His mission is simple yet profound: to help patients not only manage symptoms but also rediscover stability, purpose, and peace of mind.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Shashank Jha, MBBS (ECFMG Certified, USA), FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC is best positioned to serve children, adolescents and adults seeking thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care that combines medication management with a collaborative, goal-oriented approach. His experience in telepsychiatry, crisis stabilization, and complex psychiatric care makes him especially well-suited for individuals with overlapping or treatment-resistant mental health concerns. He commonly works with clients experiencing: * ADHD and executive functioning difficulties * Anxiety, panic attacks, and overthinking * Depression, burnout, and low motivation * Bipolar disorder and mood instability * PTSD, complex trauma, and emotional dysregulation * OCD and intrusive thoughts * Insomnia and sleep-related concerns * Co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions His practice may be a strong fit for clients who: * Want diagnostic clarity and personalized treatment plans * Prefer a provider who explains medications, risks, and options thoroughly * Are looking for both psychiatric medication management and psychotherapy-informed care * Need flexible telepsychiatry appointments within Georgia * Have not felt fully understood in prior psychiatric treatment experiences * Are motivated to improve emotional regulation, relationships, focus, sleep, or overall functioning Treatment goals often include improving attention and productivity, stabilizing mood, reducing anxiety or intrusive thoughts, healing from trauma, improving sleep, strengthening coping skills, and preventing relapse or psychiatric crises.
