Hi! I'm a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) based in Columbus, Ohio. I received my Masters in Social Work from The Ohio State University. I have worked in the field for over 20 years. I help adults dealing with life challenges work through their issues and learn new and productive ways to cope with anxiety, depression and life stressors in general.
In our first session together, we will start with introductions and then you can tell me what led you to seek therapy. I will also give you an explanation of CBT and how we can use this to work on your specific challenges. If time allows we will begin creating tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I listen for to what you say, and I listen to what you don't say. I ask questions that not only help me clarify what the issue is, but help you, the client, discover what the root of your struggles are.
I enjoy working with women, and other minorities who may face problems that are unique to their culture and who may be dealing with anxiety, depression or just stress in general. These clients may feel overwhelmed or just overstimulated and unable to come up with solutions to life barriers.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to challenge errors in thinking and to help you find a better way to cope and manage your stress through problem solving. We work together based on the premise that your thoughts create your reality, so to feel better we have to think differently.
