Hello! I'm Rebecca Stros, a LMSW and have worked in the mental health field since 2016. I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Wayne State University, where I developed a strong foundation in clinical practice and mental health advocacy. My practice is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but I also include different modalities to help best fit your situation and goals. I am passionate about empowering you to develop effective coping strategies, enhance your emotional well-being, and achieve your personal goals. I believe in the importance of a holistic approach to mental health, considering the interplay of mind, body, and environment.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session of therapy with me, we will begin by creating a warm and welcoming space where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. We’ll start with an initial assessment to understand your current concerns, goals, and any relevant background information. This will give us an opportunity to discuss the specific challenges you’re facing and explore your history, helping me tailor our approach to best support you. Following the CBT model, I’ll provide an overview of how therapy works, including what you can expect from our sessions and how we’ll collaborate to achieve your goals. I believe that the most important part of treatment is forming a partnership in which you feel heard, understood, and comfortable addressing your goals and struggles. I look forward to embarking on this journey together, where we will work collaboratively to help you achieve your goals and find renewed hope and balance in your life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to create a compassionate and client-centered environment where you feel truly heard and supported. I’m committed to understanding your unique experiences and concerns, which allows me to tailor our therapeutic approach to fit your needs. By actively listening and validating what you're going through, I aim to build a strong therapeutic alliance that helps you feel comfortable and engaged in the process. My goal is to connect with you and provide personalized support so you can navigate your challenges and work towards meaningful, positive change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In my treatment approach, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand and change your patterns of thinking and behavior that contribute to anxiety and depression. Through CBT, I guide you in identifying negative thought patterns and cognitive distortions that influence your emotions and actions. By challenging these thoughts and developing healthier, more realistic perspectives, you can reduce your symptoms and improve overall well-being. Additionally, I incorporate practical strategies such as goal setting, problem-solving, and behavioral activation to support clients in making positive changes in their daily lives. My goal is to help provide quick relief of immediate troublesome symptoms and long-term skills to help you manage your mental health while living your best life.
