Shamice is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Shamice’s number one priority is to create a safe place where clients feel comfortable sharing their life experiences and working towards the healing process. Shamice’s passion to begin her profession in therapy arose when she was working with families who recently had their children removed from their homes. At that time, she realized the adverse impact that it had on the children and families’ mental health and decided to make the decision to get on the other side of the problem. Shamice is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, exposure response and prevention therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). She is also trained in habit reversal therapy for body-focused repetitive behaviors. Shamice works with a diverse population, ranging from pre-teens to adults. She specializes in OCD, Anxiety and Mood Disorders and diminished sense of well-being or life purpose. She works with children, teens, and adults.
During our first session, you can expect a conversation where I learn about you and your strengths and what has brought you to therapy. You have the opportunity to share your goals and expectations with me.
My biggest strength as a therapist is that I can meet you where you are in every moment and I have the ability to be flexible. In therapy, that will look like using active listening skills and gently challenging you in areas that you have identified as needing challenging.
My ideal client is someone who is present during each therapy session. Every client comes to therapy for multiple reasons, and I understand that therapy can come with different challenges. Being present is the most important thing. By being present, we can work together as a team to reach your goal and explore any barriers that you have been experiencing.
I use Exposure Response and Prevention, DBT, ACT, Multi Grief Therapy and TGCTA.
