Hi. I'm Christine. Over-stressed and demoralized these days? Are familiar activities and places that you've found soothing suddenly not offering relief from anxiety and depression? There is no failure or shame in revamping your coping skills, finding inspiration in new narratives, and challenging old beliefs that keep you from embracing the many versions (discovered and undiscovered) of you! Are you caught in the comparison trap? Spiraling in a bad algorithm? I will help you find meaningful connection, improve relationship skills, and teach emotional regulation strategies. Life transitions can be tricky too, and it can be helpful to talk though periods of loss and change. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a background in journalism, gardening, and photography. I am passionate about creating habitats for local wildlife and believe one's relationship with the natural world is impactful to their level of overall wellness. I enjoy tapping people into various modes of expression, and I'm drawn to helping people live their most authentic lives.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your first therapy session is about the nuts and bolts of the counseling process. We discuss the roles of the therapist and the client, go over late cancellation and no-show policies, and clarifying run-down of informed consent items that may be revisited as needed during the course of therapy. We will make sure intake forms are completed and take a preliminary look at your reason(s) for seeking therapy. What if you aren't entirely sure? That's okay. While we learn about each other and determine if we are a good fit for working together, I can collaborate with you on possible priorities for treatment. This first session, and all sessions, are paced to create a safe place for authentic expression, the creation of a therapeutic alliance for your counseling path forward. Your symptom presentation may indicate that telehealth or my professional scope is not right for you, and my goal is to guide you to the optimal provider(s).

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I'm an LPC helping people recognize the many parts of themselves and how those parts impact their day-to-day. While I am clinically-minded, I am also a creative who helps focus you on your strengths. I help you see the power in your stories and internal landscape. I take a constructive approach to therapeutic change. This means we take stock of culture, multi-generational influences, and the most jacked-up news of the day and pull from powerful resources at the individual, community, and societal levels. I want to know about your recovery from the finale of Stranger Things, your take on a quality crochet supplies, and your cosmic insight. We will merge those with theoretical approaches like Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and others to create treatment plans that help you reach your goals. Results come from structured assessments, your self-report in session, and my clinical observation.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My client's show up with a growth mindset. In some cases they have been through therapy before, but not always. That means they don't see learning new strategies as shaming their old. I take time to really learn where my clients are getting stuck. I look at whether they are prone to too much control or too little. Client origin stories are worth their weight in gold for the creation of an effective course of therapy, and yet so are the day to day thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Client's show up with their goals for therapy, but we collaborate to make them operational objectives. Client's know where their energy is going week to week as they address jobs, relationships, wellness goals, and life's many types of healing. Mental and physical trauma, grief, rattling changes are all fuel for an effective course of therapy, and I love the creative soul who is willing to be curious.

My treatment methods

Integrative

I am theoretically and technically integrative as a counselor. This allows me to help clients conceptualize their own symptom expression from multiple perspectives. I am able to assist clients as they grab hold of new empowering beliefs and release others that have held them back. This integration also means that my treatment plans are individualized to take into account details like sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, culture, age, socio-economic status, education, and co-occuring medical conditions and the intersectionality created when client histories include varied forms of trauma.

This was just my first session, but she was very easy to talk to and helped me come up with a lot of good first steps to start my journey! Excited for next week.

seemed comfortable enough to talk to, well-versed in her field and seems to be a good person to bounce ideas off of. unsure if I will go back to her, but only because we may not be the best fit together, not any other reasons

First session and Christine is already finding patterns and potential solutions that I haven't ever considered. She listened intently, thought deeply, and challenged me. I am excited to see how much we can work on together.
