Are you ready to do the deep, difficult work of getting to the root of your struggles? Are you ready to find some balance and peace in your life? Welcome to Saathi Counseling LLC! My name is Kshipra Jain, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Washington, DC and a board-certified counselor (NCC). I have a Ph.D. in Counseling and a M.A. in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine. I primarily work with adults who are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, undergoing sexuality/gender-related issues, sociocultural issues, relationship issues, and life transitions. I specialize in working with individuals who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, immigrants/children of immigrants, and/or women. As a South Asian, 1.5-generation immigrant woman, I am consistently learning and striving to be anti-oppressive, anti-racist, queer-affirming, gender-affirming, and nonjudgmental in my personal and professional life. If you would like to gain insight into the ways that societal expectations, internalized biases, and ingrained messages may be influencing how you see yourself and engage in the world around you, please reach out to set up a free 15-minute consultation to determine if we are a good fit. Thank you for taking this step towards your growth!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

After a free 15-minute consultation session to determine our fit, we dive into an intake session where I aim to get a holistic sense of who you are and your journey so far. From there, we will collaboratively identify treatment goals to work towards during our time together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Some of my strengths include incorporating intersectionality, social justice, and decolonizing theories into the counseling session. Our challenges with mental health are often partly due to living and surviving in a system that may often feel unsustainable at times. I am here to help you find what balance means to you so that you can gradually move from surviving to thriving. I particularly love working with people with marginalized identities, including racial/ethnic minorities (BIPOC), queer and trans folx (LGBTQ+), and immigrants/children of immigrants. I also write letters for gender-affirming surgeries and letters for asylum applications if needed. I am fluent in both English and Hindi.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

LGBTQ+, trans and gender non-confirming (TGNC), BIPOC, immigrants/children of immigrants, women

My treatment methods

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I work from a humanistic, multicultural, social justice, intersectionality, and decolonizing lens. I primarily use techniques from person-centered, cognitive behavioral (CBT), mindfulness, self-compassion, narrative, solution-focused, psychodynamic, and other therapies as needed. Each client is different, so my approach is tailored to your needs. If you are looking for structure and accountability, we would set tangible goals on a regular basis. If you would benefit from flexibility and abstract thinking, we would use more reflexive and introspective exercises. I am here to support you as you embark on this journey.
