About me

I’m Niamalika Taylor, a Licensed Independent Social Worker inspired by helping individuals recognize the strength and possibilities within themselves. I understand and value how important it is for people to feel heard, seen, and understood as we navigate this journey called life. I believe you have the right to make choices that support your happiness, peace, and the life you desire. I’m committed to helping you better understand your emotions, recognize your strengths, strengthen your voice, and develop practical tools to navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence and intention. What inspires me most is helping individuals recognize that meaningful change can happen step by step, thought by thought, and choice by choice. I want therapy to be more than a place to talk. I want you to leave with tools you can carry throughout life as you continue to create and recreate what happiness, peace, and being able to say “I am okay” mean to you.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is about you and only you. We’ll create a space where you are heard, seen, understood, and valued. I want to learn who you are, what matters to you, what brought you to therapy, and what you hope to gain from our time together. We’ll identify your strengths and create goals that are meaningful to you. Throughout our sessions, we’ll practice the power of choice and develop practical skills you can apply to real-life situations. Practicing these skills together can help you become more confident using them to navigate everyday emotions, decisions, and challenges. We start where you are, and we walk forward from there—together.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My approach to therapy begins with you. I believe therapy should be as unique as the individual, so I take time to understand who you are, your experiences, your strengths, and what you want for your life. From there, I use therapeutic approaches and practical tools that best support your individual needs. Our sessions are empowering, supportive, collaborative, and intentional. Each time we meet, my goal is for you to walk away feeling more empowered—with a greater understanding of yourself, your strengths, your voice, and the choices available to you. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts and emotions and develop practical tools you can use to navigate everyday challenges and the choices life brings.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is you—the person who has chosen to take this step. You do not have to arrive with the “right” emotions, behaviors, answers, or goals. You can come as you are. My responsibility is to meet you where you are, listen to what your experiences mean to you, and provide therapeutic and holistic support that honors your individual journey. Together, we will explore whether I am the right person to walk alongside you as you make choices that help you say, “I am okay.”

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I understand that one approach may not meet every person’s needs. I use therapeutic methods and practical tools within my training that are thoughtfully selected for you, your experiences, and what you want to achieve. Together, we will identify the living tools you can utilize as you navigate your journey, make meaningful choices, and create and recreate what gives your life purpose.

Humanistic

I believe you are the expert on how you feel and what your experiences mean to you. I provide a supportive space where you can express yourself freely, feel heard, and be present as you are. I will walk alongside you as you utilize your internal power, make meaningful choices, and create and recreate what gives your life purpose.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Your culture, identity, values, family, community, and lived experiences are meaningful parts of who you are. I will listen with openness, respect your perspective, and avoid making assumptions about what your experiences mean to you. Together, we will identify culturally meaningful tools that support you in navigating your journey and making choices that help you say, “I am okay.”

Strength-Based

You already have strengths, experiences, and internal power within you. I will help you identify and utilize what is already working while learning additional living tools that support your journey. Together, we will build upon each small success as you create and recreate what has meaning and purpose in your life.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Only you know how you feel and what your experiences mean to you. I will meet you where you are and provide a supportive space where you can express yourself freely without feeling pressured to have the right words or answers. I will walk alongside you as you make choices that help you say, “I am okay.”
