My approach is warm, genuine, and practical. I believe therapy should feel like a conversation rather than an interrogation. Clients often describe me as compassionate, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. I am not afraid to use humor when appropriate, because sometimes laughter can help us get through difficult moments. At the same time, I believe in being honest and direct. If I notice something that may be keeping you stuck, I will gently challenge you while providing the support needed to move forward. My personal experiences have also shaped the therapist I am today. I understand that life can be messy, unpredictable, and overwhelming. These experiences allow me to bring both professional expertise and genuine empathy to the therapeutic relationship. I am here to help you move forward with confidence and clarity. I look forward to being part of your journey.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you've never worked with a therapist before. My goal is to make the process as comfortable and welcoming as possible. During our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other and discussing what brings you to therapy. I'll ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, relationships, support system, and any symptoms you may be experiencing. This helps me gain a better understanding of your unique situation and identify the areas you would like to improve. You don't need to have everything figured out before you come in. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, life transitions, grief, or simply feeling stuck, we'll work together to identify your goals and create a plan that feels realistic and meaningful to you. My style is conversational, supportive, and collaborative. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel comfortable being yourself. While I may use humor when appropriate, I am also direct and honest when helping you recognize patterns that may be keeping you from reaching your goals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I bring over 14 years of clinical experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, grief, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and other mental health concerns. My goal is to create a supportive environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Clients often appreciate my ability to balance compassion with honesty. I provide a warm, nonjudgmental space while also being direct when needed to help identify patterns, challenge unhelpful thinking, and encourage growth. I believe therapy should be both supportive and practical, giving you tools you can use in everyday life. I also bring a wealth of real-life experience that helps me connect with clients on a human level. As a single parent, breast cancer survivor, adult child of an alcoholic, and someone who has loved and supported a partner in recovery, I understand that life can be complicated and challenging. While every person's journey is unique, these experiences have strengthened my empathy, resilience, and understanding of the struggles many people face. My approach is collaborative, down-to-earth, and often includes a touch of humor when appropriate. I want therapy to feel like a genuine conversation rather than a clinical process. Together, we'll focus on your strengths, build effective coping skills, and create realistic goals that help you move toward the life you want to live. Above all, I strive to provide a space where you can be yourself, feel accepted, and work toward lasting change with confidence and support.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are adults and elders who are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives, even if they are unsure where to start. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, relationship challenges, or life transitions and are looking for a supportive space to better understand themselves and develop healthier coping strategies. I work best with individuals who value a collaborative approach to therapy and are willing to actively engage in the process both during and between sessions. They don't need to have all the answers or be completely motivated every day—just a willingness to be open, honest, and curious about their own growth. I enjoy helping clients identify their strengths, build emotional resilience, improve relationships, and gain the confidence needed to navigate life's challenges. Many of the clients I connect with most are those who have spent years putting others first and are finally ready to invest in their own well-being, heal from past experiences, and create a more fulfilling future.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the primary approaches I use in therapy. CBT helps clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, understand how those thoughts affect emotions and behaviors, and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. Together, we examine negative or distorted thinking, build coping skills, improve problem-solving abilities, and practice new behaviors that support emotional well-being. CBT is used to help clients manage symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, anger, low self-esteem, ADHD, and other mental health concerns. I work collaboratively with clients to increase self-awareness, challenge self-defeating beliefs, and develop practical strategies they can use in everyday life. The goal is to help clients feel more in control of their emotions, improve relationships, and create lasting positive changes.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I often use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop skills for managing emotions, tolerating distress, improving relationships, and increasing mindfulness. DBT is especially helpful for individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, mood instability, impulsivity, anger, self-esteem concerns, and difficulties coping with life's challenges. My goal is to help clients build practical tools that promote emotional balance, healthier relationships, and lasting personal growth.is method helps with emotion regulation, distress tolerance, communication skills, and establishing boundaries with relationships

Compassion Focused

I incorporate Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to help clients reduce self-criticism, shame, and negative self-talk while developing greater self-compassion and emotional resilience. This approach is especially beneficial for individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism, and low self-esteem. By learning to treat themselves with the same kindness they would offer others, clients can improve their emotional well-being and build a stronger foundation for lasting growth and healing.

Grief Therapy

I provide grief therapy for individuals experiencing the loss of a loved one, relationship, health, identity, or major life transition. My approach combines compassion, emotional support, and evidence-based techniques to help clients process their grief, develop healthy coping skills, and find ways to move forward while honoring what has been lost. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where clients can heal at their own pace and feel understood throughout their journey.

Strength-Based

I use a Strengths-Based approach to help clients identify and build upon their existing strengths, resilience, and personal resources. Rather than focusing solely on challenges, we work together to recognize successes, develop confidence, and create practical strategies for growth. This approach empowers clients to overcome obstacles, achieve their goals, and recognize their ability to create positive change in their lives.
