New to Grow
Hello, I'm Tara Cantrell, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving children, adolescents, adults, and families in Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. I provide a compassionate, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can safely explore challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, behavioral concerns, and life transitions. I use evidence-based approaches, including CBT and DBT, to help individuals build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change. My ideal clients are those who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or uncertain but are motivated to improve their emotional well-being, develop healthier coping strategies, and create positive changes in their lives.
Your first session with me is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a comfortable, trusting relationship. I will take time to learn about your concerns, strengths, personal history, and what has brought you to therapy. We will discuss your goals, answer any questions you may have, and identify what you hope to gain from the counseling process. My approach is warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental. I believe therapy should feel like a safe space where you can share at your own pace and feel heard and understood. Together, we will begin developing a plan that is tailored to your unique needs and goals, while identifying practical strategies and strengths that can support your healing and growth. You do not have to have everything figured out before coming to therapy—our work begins exactly where you are.
My approach stands out because I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Every client has unique experiences, needs, and goals, so I tailor each session to fit the individual. Some clients need a safe, supportive space where they can process their thoughts and feel truly heard, while others prefer a more interactive approach that includes feedback, practical strategies, and guidance. I adapt my therapeutic style to meet clients where they are, creating a personalized experience that honors their preferences and empowers them to make meaningful, lasting change.
I am best positioned to serve children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, behavioral concerns, grief, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I have extensive experience working with school-aged children and families, helping them navigate emotional, behavioral, academic, and social difficulties. I also work with adults who are struggling with overwhelming emotions, past trauma, parenting concerns, or significant life changes. I am particularly effective with clients who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain and are seeking practical tools to improve their emotional well-being and daily functioning. I enjoy working with individuals who want to build healthier coping strategies, improve communication, strengthen relationships, develop emotional regulation skills, and increase self-awareness. My approach is compassionate, supportive, and solution-focused, meeting clients where they are while empowering them to identify their strengths and make meaningful changes. I incorporate evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed practices, to help clients develop skills that can be applied in everyday life. I believe healing occurs within a safe, trusting, and nonjudgmental environment where individuals feel heard, respected, and supported. My goal is to help clients build resilience, gain confidence in managing life's challenges, and create lasting positive change. Whether someone is seeking support for personal growth, emotional healing, family concerns, or improved relationships, I strive to provide a therapeutic space that fosters hope, empowerment, and meaningful progress
