Welcome and thanks for visiting my profile here at Grow! My name is Tiffany, and I am an original native of Memphis, Tennessee. However, I was raised in Stone Mountain/Lithonia, GA, and began my academic journey in Augusta, GA. In 2012, I completed my undergraduate training at Paine College, where I achieved my Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with an emphasis in pre-professional studies. Seeking to understand more about human interaction and behavior, I developed an intense passion for mental health which led me to the obtainment of my Master of Science Degree in Applied Psychology with a special concentration in Behavioral Health from the University of Phoenix in 2016. As I grew to learn and understand more about the role and impact of significant relationships and systemic issues on individual mental health, I went on to pursue and obtain my second Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Capella University in 2022. My career journey highlights extensive hands-on experience in nearly every realm of the practice of mental/behavioral health to include child & adolescent counseling, family, marriage, and couples counseling, as well as forensic and geriatric psychology, applied behavior analysis, international education coordination services, substance abuse treatment, case management, inpatient psychiatric/crisis intervention, and treatment servicing at-risk youth in secure facilities. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, listening to music, dancing, eating, and traveling.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 8 years of experience providing behavioral health services to a diverse population of children, families, and individuals. I consider myself a true mental health advocate whose divine purpose in life is to help those challenged by the various stages of life access their own unique strengths to break glass ceilings, reach new heights, and achieve holistic well-being. My goal during your unique therapeutic journey is to help you face life's challenges by using a solution-focused and narrative approach. By the end of each session, you will feel both empowered and motivated having accessed your own resources and strengths for the purpose of taking the necessary steps to reauthor your life.
I typically work from a narrative, person-centered, and/or solution-focused approach while also incorporating standard CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) techniques and interventions. However, when working specifically with couples and families, I have found that my use of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Structural Family Therapy tends to be the most effective. In either regard, it is important that each and every one of my clients and/or family systems know, and rest assured that my treatment plans are individualized to fit your own unique needs. Hence, I take special pride in being able to practice beyond a "one size fits all" approach and collaborating directly with you to help determine your skills, strengths, and goals throughout the entire duration of your therapeutic journey.
One of my biggest strengths as a marriage and family therapist is my unique ability to bridge the gap between individuals and families by working with the entire system to help every person in session feel heard and understood. My gift is helping individuals achieve the courage and strength to communicate their wants, needs, and all of the desires of their heart to intricate members within their family system. With time and experience, I believe I have mastered how to do so in such a way that helps all see things from multiple perspectives. Whether it's a spouse, significant other, parent, child, etc, no conflicted relationship is beyond my reach. With great care, compassion, and empathetic listening, I'm dedicated to doing my best to rise to the challenge every single session.
