My goal as a psychotherapist combines deep empathy, active listening, and strong ethical boundaries to create a safe space for healing. I desire to build a collaborative partnership with each client to address your concerns and aid you in discovering your unique strengths to empower your journey. I utilize CBT and other evidenced based approches that are tailored to fit each unique person.

First session

In our first session, we will review essential paperwork, including confidentiality policies, limits to confidentiality (such as self-harm or safety risks), session fees, and office policies. I will ask open-ended questions about what brought you to therapy, current symptoms, personal history, relationships, medical history, and any previous mental health treatment. We will discuss what you hope to achieve through therapy. This helps outline tentative treatment goals and expectations. The initial session is a two way assessment. It gives both you and I a chance to see if our personalities, communication styles, and needs are a good match. I strongly encourage you to ask any questions to help you decide if you would like to begin the therapeutic journey with me. You control the pace. You are not required to dive deeply into traumatic or uncomfortable topics before you feel ready. Only share what you are comfortable sharing. I find it an honor to enter into you life and respect your well being. Therapy relies heavily on the therapeutic relationship. Finding the right fit is key, and it is perfectly fine to seek out a different therapist if the dynamic does not feel comfortable.

Strengths

My life journey has lead me through working with people in an assortment of circumstances and seasons. I have worked in psychiatric facilities, in juvenile facilities with violent juvenile offenders, hospice, in nursing homes and assisted living providing psychology services. Through all these experiences, I have learned to enter into the therapeutic relationship with openness and accepting people where they are. I strive to create a safe and compassionate environment where you can feel heard.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is one who is experiencing life transition whether entering college or leaving college to enter the working world or those entering retirement and leaving their occupational identity seeking new meaning in life. They may be experiencing the grief process due to loss of a loved one, loss of autonomy job or career or decling health or terminal illness.

Treatment methods

Faith based therapy

Through becoming aware of the clients spiritual frame of reference, we will utilize their tradition as a source of strength.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our thoughts influence how we feel and the choices we make. CBT helps us identify negative thought patterns that may be increasing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or self-doubt. Together, we'll learn how to challenge unhelpful thinking, replace it with healthier perspectives, and create new behaviors that support the life you're working toward.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Teaching mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills to help clients navigate intense emotions and relationships.

Strength-Based

I work with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. My approach is person centered, strength-based, and solution focused helping you build self-esteem, improve communication, and create meaningful change without staying stuck in the past.
