Debra Ort

PMHNP (she/her)20 years of experience

Hello, My name is Debra Ort. With over 20 years of experience in diverse mental health settings, I am a dedicated and compassionate board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. My career spans inpatient psychiatric facilities to outpatient clinics, encompassing both private and group practices. I earned my Nursing degree from the University of Maine and my Master’s in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatry from Husson University. I am passionate about treating all aspects of mental health, including co-occurring disorders such as addiction. I believe in a collaborative, holistic approach to treatment, placing you—the client—at the center of care and ensuring that each client receives the support they need to achieve optimal mental wellness.

First session

In our first session, we will focus on gathering information about your history and current situation to better understand what brings you to therapy. This includes exploring relevant personal background, current challenges, and any other important factors that may be influencing your well-being. We’ll also take time to clarify your goals for treatment — what you hope to achieve through our work together, both in the short term and long term. This might involve identifying specific areas of concern, changes you’d like to make, or skills you’d like to develop. Based on this discussion, we will begin to develop an initial treatment plan tailored to your needs. This plan will help us prioritize key issues and set realistic goals for your progress, including where you hope to be in six months to a year. This session is an opportunity to build a foundation for our work together and ensure that you feel heard, understood, and supported as we begin this process.

Strengths

I strive to empower my clients to reach their full mental health potential. I am an advocate for the power of positive thinking and positive energy in the healing process. My goal is to support you in achieving your goals for your mental health.

Ideal clients

Taking steps to treat your mental health is a courageous and worthwhile journey. There may be challenges along the way—moments that feel uncertain or difficult—but every step forward is an investment in a better quality of life. This process is not about perfection, but about progress, growth, and reclaiming your well-being. You are up for this challenge, and you don’t have to face it alone.
